is the Archaeopteryx a fraud I’ve read two books on the matter both stating different things, so ill ask you lot is the Archaeopteryx a fraud?

First thing. You should have told us exactly what two books you have read.

No. Archaeopteryx is NOT a fraud. There are some thoughts about it's closeness to modern birds. It is obvious that there are some striking differences. It appears to be more closely related to reptile. What really a matters is that is appears to be a transitional species. After all there is NO doubting it had feathers.

Of course the real problem with Archaeopteryx is the effect Creationist are trying to cause. Any and reference to terms like "fraud" come from them.

Archaeopteryx is anot fraud and more than one specimen has been found. It was the first dinosaur with feathers to be discovered but there have been many since then, particularly in China. The Chinese fossils, archeopteryx and others have produced some beautiful transitions from dinosaurs to ancient birds to modern birds.

It's definitely not. You may be thinking of Archaeoraptor, which is certainly a fraud.

I don't believe so. However the notion of Intelligent Design is very suspect.
