I cannot open a file that has been sent to me via MSN. It was sent in a compressed folder and then i opened it and tried to open the file and windows will not let me open it. It says it is harmful and wont give me the option to allow or ignore it. I no its not a virus so how can i get round this? Do i need to turn some sort of security setting off?

msn does that so you don't get a virus. the file you are trying to get probably isn't harmful at all, msn is just taking exta precautions.

here's what you do: make the exention of the .zip or .exe into soemthign else. Like... say, .mp3 or something. Then get it sent to you.

Then, when you get it, change it back to .zip or .exe or whatever it originall was. there you go!

Why do you want to open that Windows thinks is harmful? It may really mess up your whole computer.

There's only one thing to do. Get a sledgehammer and destroy your computer. It is evil and probably listening to us right now. Sneak in your computer room tonight when everyone else has gone to sleep. You must rid your home of this evil. It is the only way.

To get around this, you should choose save as and then go to the file you saved it to and then open it.
