It is a tough one to call people -- there are no right or wrong answers here, but um... damn! I'm gonna have to go with Bowie...

OK – out of 29 answerers, 21 of you voted for David Bowie.

And While I absolutely agree With Chainlightning that Iggy is the better live performer of the two, Hugh 9269 made a more convincing point and that was that Bowie has a rather extensive and impressive discography to back him up. Dan C, I’m glad you also brought up The Stooges, because they stand separately on their own, and probably don't deserve to be in the 'crossfire' of this poll.

So I am going to allow the public to vote on this one! Sorry guys, it’s even tough for me to vote on. All good answers, though!

If you count the Stooges then I have to say that Iggy Pop gives David quite an a$s woopin', I'm sorry but very few bands ever topped the Stooges, maybe The Clash or Ramones. If you mean just their solo career, I honestly haven't heard enough of Iggy's, although the whole Lust For Life album stands up to the best I've heard of Bowie, they both had their highs and lows. But the Stooges were a monument of monolithic proportion to rock 'n' roll perfection, especially coming out of the time they did.

And I don't think it's unfair to put them in the same category. They've both been described as Glam Rock and Proto-punk or even Garage Rock Revivalists. Either way they both made some of the best straight forward rock around.

They're Both Amazing. And Iggy Is Regularly Overlooked. Sure He Wasn't As Innovative Or Diverse As Bowie But He Was Just As Influencial. He Just Had This Amazing Energy And Stage Prescence. Bowie Is No Doubt A Far Superior Musician And Songwriter But Iggy Is Equally Legendary. Personally, I Prefer Bowie's Music.

Well, I don't like to pick favorites of anything, prefer to enjoy something on it's own merits without comparisons. However...

If we can stop David Bowie at Diamond Dogs, or at least at Scary Monsters, then I would have to choose Bowie.

However, I certainly prefer Iggy Pop to Bowie after Scary Monsters. And, btw, Soldier was a great album, even without the Stooges (and Bowie was involved with that one). So, Iggy Pop was great with and without the Stooges. And a nice guy, I met him once in San Francisco on Haight Street.

Overall, we probably have to consider that very likely, we wouldn't have Iggy Pop without Bowie. For what that's worth.

Bowie is more creative, a better songwriter, and has more hit singles (Iggy co-wrote "China Girl" with David, I think)

Iggy is a better stage performer, (David produced Iggy's "Lust for Life" album) and looked better naked.

Yes, I've seen them both naked, in movies and on stage, never in a "private situation" though I wouldn't have minded either one, given the opportunity.

I'll have to go with Iggy. I love "I Wanna be Your Dog" more than I love "Blue Jean", neither is fair.

I already asked this one awhile ago.

I have to say Bowie. Iggy Pop is good but he isnt on the same level as Bowie he also owes much of his fame too Bowie.
