i am not stupid, its just sometimes things dont make sense to me at all. for an instance i am trying to understand somethings about the occult. one thing that i'm having trouble understanding is how numbers relate to words. i am trying to read Hulses' The Key To It All and i barely understood the introduction. if anyone can help or atleast tell me how they figure something out when it dosent make sense to them, especially when you read it.

sometimes, if I am reading some really dense material, I have to read slowly, maybe make a few notes as I go along, and take it in small chunks and let it digest, so to speak. Maybe read a little and put it down until the next day. That can really help me to absorb something I am having trouble learning. It can also help to ask someone who is familiar with the topic, because talking it out can sometimes suddenly make it "click" for you.
As for numerology, it might be easy to start with the very basics. I haven't read the book you mentioned, but you can find simple explanations of how to calculate the numerology of a word or name online.

There are a lot of ancient cultures who believed in connections between words and numbers, and it is really interesting to learn the associations.

Take it apart. Like when you started reading,m first you had to enunciate. Read something, then go over it again. If it still doesn't make sense take some time and come back later to it, but don't obsess.

your working your brain to hard and you need to work up to that level of understanding. try to understand simpler things first then go into depth.

IN the occult the only time you would use numbers is in the calling up something for information purpose only... So some how you are mis-reading something.............................
