Since 1973, over 45 million children have been killed by abortion in the US alone. Abortion is violence against the unborn and violates their human rights. It's shocking to think that it's acceptable in 2007 to rip unborn babies apart for no other reason than their parents just don't want them. We don't treat rabid animals, mass murderers, or prisoners of war with such disrespect.

From the moment of conception a child has its own separate DNA, so it's not like the mother's arm or kidney. At around 21 days after conception, a baby's heart begins to beat. In a few short weeks, brainwaves can be detected. Looking for heartbeats and brainwaves are the typical methods of determining if an adult is alive or dead.

Rape and incest account for about 1% of all abortions. But even in these circumstances, why should the child be punished for her father's crime?

There are 2 million couples waiting to adopt. Biological parents can choose who they want to raise their children and even remain in contact with their children if they so desire. Some adoptive parents are even able and willing to help the birth mothers financially. Given these facts, why would anyone pay "Planned Parenthood" to destroy their child? (Of course, the abortion clinic "counselors" are like slick used-car salesmen presenting abortion as the solution to all of life's problems.)

In addition, there are thousands of crisis pregnancy centers across the country that provide free clothing, food, toys, strollers, pregnancy tests, health care referrals, counseling, even shelter and money, etc. to those in need. There's just no excuse for the 1.3 million abortions that occur every year in this country alone.

Abortion hurts women as well. Many women regret their choice and join the pro-life movement to try to help other women avoid the pain they have suffered. Abortion increases the chance of suicide and substance abuse by 500%. Women are also 400% more likely to die in an accident in the year following an abortion compared with women who carried their children to term. Depression is a common side effect of abortion. Some women still die from legal abortions; others lose their ability to have children. There have also been a number of studies done which link breast cancer to abortion. Women deserve better than abortion.

There are plenty of people who are willing to adopt a baby, so there aren't any good reasons to kill one in my opinion. If you have ever seen a sonogram, you would realize that the unborn baby is alive and in control of its motions.

My wife and I have reflected back to when she was pregnant and how the personalities of our two son's were evident before birth. One of our sons has always liked to be entertained and he is assertive. When my wife would stop to rest he would get active as if he was trying to get her kick started again. He would kick until she would start moving and then he would settle down. The other son is more laid back and could always pretty much entertain himself. He would get active on his schedule not his mothers.

I can understand in the case of rape, how a woman might not want carry the child, but it is not the child's fault and there are parents who cannot have children that would love that baby and probably raise it to be a good person. Even in the case of incest, the odds are that the baby will be normal. And if you think people who are not normal would rather not have been born, ask them.

I didn't decide till my wife grinned across the table at me during lunch and said she was pregnant. Then the day of the first sonogram when I saw that tiny beating heart my beliefs were cemented forever.

I suggest finding your own reasons. Both sides can be overbearing and self-righteous and that just doesn't help anyone make such an important decision.

I oppose abortion, except when the health of the mother is at stake.

However, my opposition doesn't matter except for the choices I make. I have no right to impose my views on anyone else.

That's why I'm anti-abortion and pro-choice. The choice is up to each individual -- not something that should be imposed by the majority as a matter of law.

I am against abortion, and I feel like abortion is equal to murder.

It is unnatural, and it is something ugly to almost everybody around the world.

I am speaking here about those abortions of convenience, not about abortions that the doctor determines are necessary to save the life of the mother. If the doctor decides that an abortion is necessary to saves the mother's life then I am OK with that.

But people nowadays are having a lot more abortions than we know about. The statistics are a little bit difficult to collect, but there is no doubt that after abortion was legalized that millions of fetuses have been aborted, and millions of babies have been denied their right to be born.

One of the big reasons I am against abortion is becauase it is against my religion. Another reason is that legalizing abortion makes people think that they can have a lot of casual sex and not worry about pregnancy.

And really, there is no excuse for anyone to claim they support abortion because they are "pro-choice." Except in cases of rape, women and men have the choice to prevent pregnancy. There are so many contraceptives available nowadays, from condoms to diaphragms to spermicide to pills. Seriously, who can claim that they didn't have the choice? If you don't want to get pregnant then you can also do something very simple - abstain from sex. And I believe that a lot of people in this country are self-delusional about certain issues. For example, if a woman is very flirtatious and dresses very sexually, revealing all her body's curves, then obviously she is inviting attention and obviously she has a higher chance of being date-raped or even raped than a women who is careful and dresses modestly and doesn't walk the streets at night. I am not saying that rape is excusable - of course it is inexcusable under any circumstances, but what I am saying is that women need to understand that they do have power over some factors that can affect their chances of being date-raped or raped. And obviously, a lot of women want to claim that abortion should be legalized if only because a lot of women are date-raped or raped.

Another reason I am against abortion is because of something I heard Rush Limbaugh say on the radio, and before you laugh this off just please listen. There is no doubt that millions of babies have been aborted since abortion was legalized in the late 60s, and the number has been estimated to be around 40 million. For sure the number is in the tens of millions.

We recently have had a big debate in this country over immigration and how so many illegal immigrants are in the US, around 10 million. Why? Because this country needs a lot of workers for agricultures, farming, service work, etc.

But what if all those babies that were aborted had been allowed to be born, and they were subsequently put up for adoption, and they were raised well. Those people would satisfy the big labor demand and subsequently, the US wouldn't need all of these illegal aliens to work here.

Another reason I am against abortion is because I believe every life is precious, and every person is unique, and we cannot claim that just because someone has an unwanted pregnancy that that child will not be raised and loved by another family. And another reason I am against abortion is because the babies that were aborted may have included among them some that would have grown up to improve and benefit our society. What if one of those babies that were aborted would have grown up to be a genius who discovers many great inventions, or someone who finds a vaccine to cure AIDS?

So in summary, I believe that every human life that forms after conception should be respected and valued. I feel that abortion is naturally repulsive to our collective human conscience and sense of morality. Thank you for giving me the chance to discuss this with all of you. Have a nice day.

First of all, its pro-abortion not pro-choice. The choice needs to come BEFORE there is a baby, not after there is a baby. A woman can do all she wants with her own body, but a baby is not her body. A baby is in her body but is a completely different person.

Being in our mother's womb is the first stage of life...just like toddlerhood is a stage of life. The key word here is LIFE!

If you are grown up enough to have sex you are grown up enough to have a baby as a result. I think people see abortion as an easy way out. Sure there are times that the baby may not make it or the mother may die, then it is the parents of the baby to decide the next step- not the public. I also believe that if it were made illegal again we would be having unsafe abortions with horrible results.

A life is a life, and a murder is a murder. Regardless of how you look at it, that unborn child if allowed to be born will become a person. A living, breathing, thinking human, and the only thing justifying the death of this person is timing.

Rowe was decided a long time ago with out all the benefits of medical advancement we have now, such as sonograms. They convinced people that a fetus is just a lump of cells that don't matter. Look at sonograms and you will see it isn't so. DNA says it is a human being.
Abortion is cold blooded murder.
