Cutting out all the bible stuff-sorry guys but unless you are using the hebrew it's just too twisted by humankind- it seems as if your main ? is "how do I know that the spirits are telling me the truth?" If that IS your ?, then we go on-alot of times they don't.
Which comes to "trying" them, basically re-wording the same question in different forms and seeing if they give you the same answer. Carrying on a dialogue with a spirit is time consuming, you are talking in circles unless you are familiar with them personally as reliable. Asking the same question again and again in different ways separates the addle-brained spirits from those that can actually help you or should I say DO things for you. Hope that helps.

You would try the spirits to see if they are of God....just meaning every one or thing that comes to you pretending to be of God is not.
"You will know a tree by its fruits". Meaning if someone is telling you how to live and be close to God and they are living a wicked existence constantly transgressing God's laws and living in opposition then you would turn from that person.
A tree is a tree....you would not know what kind of tree it is until the fruit is born. In other words do not take people at face value....see who they are before you believe what they are telling you....have it proven to you from the word.....and if they are unsavory....get away!
Oh Yeah the spirits would be influencing the person that's where the spirit part comes in.

Paul gives a pretty detailed account of how they went about "testing the Spirt" in the New Testament.
Check out Corinthians 12-14.

Heh yeah. And when you figure out how to make them *stop* talking.... let me know.
Seriously... I do. All the time. But what happens when you have a spirit who has no concept of religion or God or anything beyond his immediate world b/c he was never taught it? Does that make him antichrist in your definition?

I know very little about the Bible, but it sounds like to me that this encourages communication with spirits and even says to test them to see if they are from God or not.
Sounds like common sense to me. :)
So, does that mean it is okay to communicate with the spirits who are "of God" ? Perhaps this means the angels, or other guardian spirits who look out for the believers.
I don't mean any disrespect, but would like to understand what the definition of spirit is. Does the Bible say anything about the spirits of those who have passed on? (Aside from Jesus, of course).
Is there anything that says that the spirits who are not "of God" are not able to pass the test?

What God is say that by questioning these spirits that come to people or those that are are called up thru divination, Like seances or via a Ouija Board... You should question them to see if they are from God like most people may think that they are.... And thru your questioning you are suppose to be able to tell.. But 99% of these people have no idea as to what to ask.... And they have even less of an idea as to what they are doing..... So they wind up serving Satan or one of Satan demons..................... And get the others with them condemed.................... And people feel strong and proud after calling up a demon that will get them condemed in Gods eyes................ And yes you are totally correct in what you are saying but 99% of the people will have no idea as to what you are talking about............................................................
