if you factor it out it's

(3x -1)(x+5) = 0

x = 1/3 and -5

I think your trying to find the points for a perabola though.

(3x -8)(x+1)=0
Set each factor to 0 and solve:
x = 8/3 or x = -1.
The last choice is right.
