I ask because while there are more liberals than conservatives who oppose Bush, his approval rating is at 26%, and I know that 74% of the country is not liberal.

I'm a Libertarian and I've never supported the 'Son of a Bush'! Initially, I just couldn't see anything substantial to him beyond his father's name recognition. Now I am totally outraged that he has placed himself above the laws of the land, specifically the Constitution, the Geneva Convention, Congress (noncompliance with subpoenas; use of signing statements as a de facto line-item veto) and the Judicial Branch (lobbying for mandatory minimums to all federal offenses to limit judiciary discretion, then taking discretion for himself by commuting Libby's sentence). I have more reasons, but that's (more than) enough to get my drift.

Bush is a "Service to Self" politician who use the Neo Conservative platform for his own agenda to the detriment of almost ALL of us.

Many are beginning to see this, Conservatives, Liberals, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and others. The more we "see" the lower his approval rating will be.

It is much harder for the Conservatives /Republicans to see this because its like one of their own "gone bad" However upon very close examination, he does not even serve their agenda.

I oppose Bush because he violates federal law, and betrays his oath office by trampling on the Constitution. That would apply regardless of my political beliefs.

But to answer the other part of your question, the closest category that my beliefs fall into is Libertarian. I believe in small govt, minimal regulation, self-sufficiency, and strong protection for civil liberties.

But even if Bush stood for all those things, I would still oppose him as an individual because of what he has done as an individual.

His approval ratings are a weighted average, of course, between all party affiliations. Bush still has a 50 - 60% approval rating of republicans, and when blended with the rest of the country, why it is so low right now.

I am a liberal conservative, just like George Bush, yet I don't support him either!

I think if you are a free thinking, intelligent person who just takes a step back and watches the actions & deeds of Mr. Bush, it don't matter what your politics are. Bush/Cheney have taken the American name, which did stand for fairness, honesty & a helping hand when needed to a mostly world view of being a "Rouge Nation". No matter who is our next President, I hope they start to repair the damage that these Dictators brought to our reputation.

An American citizen who never supported this fool - and hates being an " I told you so " . But again I don't have a clear idiology. It depends on the issue. I would be a Theodore Roosevelt type of conservative.

Actually most conservatives I know loath him, more than even libs do. Most conservatives aren't neocon like Bush, they are paleocon. Neocons are economical and global(ie. Bush cares more about NAFTA and free trade than the good of America) whereas paleocons are more social and internal.

Bush won't solve our insane border problem, stupidly believes the MidEast can be Westernized, and has raised taxes, and is sending jobs oversees. That is why I don't support him.

BTW, I'm a hardcore paleocon.

I am a libertarian and I no longer support Bush. Illegal amnesty was the final straw. It reflected Bush's core belief that more government is the answer to everything.
