I agree with the guy above me... Disney is trying hard to get rid of the gang activity at Pleasure Island, so why would you want to go there? Just check out one of the many Ale Houses for a good time.

Nope, not all of them. You guys can only go to the Adventurer's Club (which is actually really fun) or Comedy Warehouse. All the other clubs require you to be 21.
Disney has not had problems with gang activity, just groups of rowdy teens; there has been no link to gang activity. And the Ale Houses are no safer; a couple was abducted from the Orlando Ale House on Colonial & Kirkman in Orlando. Disney property is much safer, in my opinion.
But, since you will only be able to get into two clubs, you can also have a fun time at the House of Blues, which is usually all ages. Also remember that you will be asked to provide picture ID if you decide to enter any of the over 18 clubs, and Disney does NOT accept drivers ID from countries other than USA. You will need a passport to prove your age at bars and clubs, unless you have a state-issued photo ID or US Military ID.

5 Pleasure Island Clubs Raise Age Limit to 21: "The new guidelines, allowing entry only to people ages 21 or older, go into effect for the BET SoundStage Club, 8TRAX, Mannequins Dance Palace, Rock 'n' Roll Beach Club and Motion. Younger people still will be welcome at two clubs that have broader entertainment, the Adventurers Club and the Comedy Warehouse, though an adult must accompany anyone under age 18. All ages still are welcome at the Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant." (Source: Orlando Sentinel, 01/01/07)

Drinking age in Florida is 21, Disney is a family based area and they card everyone even close to age. My neice and her husband are twenty-three and twenty-five and they were carded everytime they ordered. There are a few night clubs that are for under twenty one, but most of 21 and over.

i think of it stinks... I stay in Florida, (approximately an hour faraway from disney, yet its nonetheless close sufficient that whilst we do a ladies evening out or something its no longer something to force to PI) and Downtown Disney is unquestionably one of our popular places to bypass... we frequently stay in motels down there, and could bypass to Downtown Disney, devour dinner at between the resturants, catch a action picture, bypass back to our inn, get waiting then bypass out dancing/eating the completed evening. Its handy because you should use the disney bus so which you do no longer would desire to worry some D.D... its a hell of plenty safer than going to Ybor or Church highway. Theres protection, and theres actually no longer something to tension approximately whilst it comprises underage eating because of the fact 21 year olds are not allowed in. Its unhappy that they are eliminating a secure place that adults would desire to bypass to bounce and drink and cling out... just to put in extra shops to make it extra "kin oriented". Whats that mean? all human beings is plenty extra probably to spend money in the event that they are no longer around a collection of people dancing and stuff? Its in basic terms loopy that they are ultimate it. i'm gonna would desire to devise a ladies evening extremely quickly previously it closes in September!

Waste your time not at Pleasure Island. Spend your time at House of Blues instead - also located at Downtown Disney. Better entertainment and all ages welcome. Pleasure Island is a dump plain and simple. Actually, most of Disney World is a dump but that's an answer to a different question.
