take it as a real compliment. Peers often are embarrassed by saying things like this, often don't say it because they are afraid you will take it as a come-on...Just be thankful you are, for good looking people have an easier road to hoe in life than do those less fortunate.

Adults see you so differently than your peers see you. Adults notice things about your skin, hair, eyes, smile, that your friends don't because we adults don't look like that anymore and miss it and we aren't afraid to let you know we appreciate your looks. If other of your friends were around, the adults would probably think they are pretty also. Your friends see you through young eyes, the same eyes you have for seeing and appreciating things; not nearly as experienced or mature as older eyes. And, maybe your friends don't want you to become conceited. So don't. Take it as a very nice compliment, but don't let your looks become your self-esteem. Nurture what is inside of you. Looks don't last forever, but "your heart will go on."

Your peers may have a harder time complementing you because they are unable to see their own beauty so it makes it difficult for them to recognize yours. Adults that are complementing you are more objective of the situation cause they aren't living in that world anymore.

So take it for the complement it is.

If you think your friends are pretty, tell them. They are probably also wondering why they never hear it from their friends either

Very astute mind you have. I had noticed that elders are more likely to give compliments than peers. It IS interesting isn't it? I take it that your Mother is a Therapist? Probrably the mental kind? If the compliments bother you, you need to talk to your Mom about them, and make sure not to be alone with any of those "friends".

Adults have typically gotten past the adolescent competition and thus find it easier to tell someone they are pretty. Young teenagers are all caught up in the "who's better looking" competition of being a teenager that they can't compliment someone.

Well , dont take deep careness into compliments , i guess your mom's patients told you so partly you are quite pretty and . . . because they are healed by your mom . Compliments in this case sometimes are just because of politeness . You are just 13 , i understand how you feel when receiving a compliment coz i used to get it , but dont let it jus mess up your life . Study well and good luck !

Your friends see you all the time. They will not compliment you at times like adults will. That may be the one time an adult will see you, so this is their only chance.

So it is not strange at all.

Adults:
1. Being courteous.
2. And probably because - YOU ARE !!!.

Your friends - either don't mention it because they can see it for themselves and don't say anything to you for they might seem strange too you?

i don't find it strange, adults are nicer than kids, and most kids are shy about saying things like that. : )
