To say that Homeopathic remedies are ONLY effective on a placebo level makes no sense. Although the placebo "power of the mind" effect is a factor with ANY kind of treatment, most people seem to think of prescribed drugs by an MD as some "magical" cure concoction created in a lab. Although the pill/injection/medication your doctor prescribes you IS processed, one must ask "what's in this??" The answer will 99 percent of the time be a derivative of a substance that NATURALLY occurs in nature on our planet Earth. Prescription drugs are usually just a less concentrated (cheaper), supplemented, processed version of a naturally occuring herb, vitamin, mineral, plant substance etc. Therefore, In my opinion, homeopathic medicine can be just as, if not MORE effective than traditional western meds and much, much more gentle on the body. The key, is finding a truly knowledgable holistic practitioner and getting to know your own body so YOU can actively play a part in your health.

A and C. B is a claim you'll see made by people who don't know any better, or who've spent all of 5 minutes "studying" holistic medicine. Homeopathic remedies cost between $5 and $10 for enough medicine to treat a neighbourhood. They are much more cost effective by far than prescription drugs -- these are the outfits who use research paid for by millions in public donations and they're the ones who spend the big bucks on marketing. Any Homeopath can show you hundreds of cured cases. Conventional medicine cures nothing, it just suppresses symptoms and only in about 20-30% of cases. It's highly over-rated.

Generally I have good luck with the herbal teas that give an affect that I am looking for. The energy teas and the sleeping teas work well for me.
There was some research done that actually proves echinacea really does work. So I think it is very probable that homeopathic medicines work. Perhaps not all of them.

Homeopathic remedies I found work best for me. I have an hormonal imbalance, and it helped me with that. A good naturopath who knows what their talking about is the best way to see what's right for you. What's worked for other people may not be affective for you.

Many years ago, when I lived in a group house, one of the residents started doing homeopathy through a practitioner.
In a couple of months this guy looked extraordinarily healthy. The whites of his eyes got really clear and white. His skin looked like a movie star's.
I also met a woman whose cancer was cured through homeopathy.
Yeah, it works.
The inventor of homeopathy is considered to be the Father of the Scientific Method. Just outside the National Science Foundation in Washington D.C, there is a huge statue of Hahnamann in a grotto.
Good luck.

They only "work well" if you're lucky. They've NEVER been shown to work any better than a placebo.
Clearly "ladybug" does not know what homeopathic remedies are, the examples she gave are NOT homeopathy.

Heck yes they work.
I spent SEVEN YEARS getting progressively worse. I did my own research and felt I probably had a hormone imbalance. I easily had 90 symptoms, mostly moderate and severe. MD, after MD...stared at my blankly, like I had a 3rd head. I had blood test after blood test that said I was 'normal' but I felt like death. Every doctor wanted to put me on antidepressants too. Morons. I am not depressed, I need hormones. Many admitted I needed hormones and still didn't give them to me. I visited 13 (MDs) doctors who wasted my time before I was sick enough I tried an ND. I have been steadily getting better since I saw him 4 months ago. It's unreal. I will never trust a 'white coat' again.
I will only see an MD if something major happens...like broken bones. But for minor things...I can take much better care of myself thank you with natural means! :) It's really scary how little they know about the body's functioning.
More stories and these are all different doctors
---I had a doc try to run a sleep test on me because he was SURE after spending 4 minutes with me that I suffered from sleep apnea. (um...no...its called low functioning thyroid).
---I had a severe ear infection. The ear drops didn't work, the oral antibiotic didn't work...I called the doc back and diagnosed me over the phone with shingles!! (went to a Chinese natural doc in town and w/in 15 minutes my duel infection had lost all pressure!).
---I spent 5 years on several different antidepressants which made me sick and loopy and just whacked out. I told the doc I wanted to try something natural, he said no, you will suffer from depression for the rest of your life and you NEED antidepressants. (Who does he think he is to tell me that...so I set out to prove him wrong. :) With natural means, I am depression free 2 years later. I know what caused it and it was not a lack of pharmaceutical drugs!
Magnesium citrate stopped my hot flashes
Melatonin helps me sleep at night
Acidophilus (sp?) keeps me healthy! I have taken NO sick days since I started seeing my ND. I averaged 2 sick days per month before that..
:) They totally work...why do you think the FDA and their peeps are trying so hard to stop the use/sale of natural products.
Good luck!

They worked well for my son when he was a baby/toddler. The tablets for babies with gas and the teething tablets helped, and the ones he took after getting vaccinations.
I have personally had zero improvement with homeopathy for myself. I think it's success, like very form of medicine, has to do with one's culture and belief system.

I've used it for a couple of different ailments. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I find herbal remedies much more consistant in actually curing an illness.

Homeopathy ("home-ee-AH-pah-thy"), also known as homeopathic medicineA whole medical system that originated in Europe. Homeopathy seeks to stimulate the body's ability to heal itself by giving very small doses of highly diluted substances that in larger doses would produce illness or symptoms (an approach called "like cures like")., is a form of health care that developed in Germany and has been practiced in the United States since the early 19th century. Homeopathic practitioners are commonly called homeopaths. This fact sheet answers some frequently asked questions on homeopathy. A whole medical system that originated in Europe. Homeopathy seeks to stimulate the body's ability to heal itself by giving very small doses of highly diluted substances that in larger doses would produce illness or symptoms (an approach called "like cures like"). and reviews scientific research on its use and effectiveness.
Key concepts of homeopathy include:
* Homeopathy seeks to stimulate the body's defense mechanisms and processes so as to prevent or treat illness.
* Treatment involves giving very small doses of substances called remedies that, according to homeopathy, would produce the same or similar symptoms of illness in healthy people if they were given in larger doses.
* Treatment in homeopathy is individualized (tailored to each person). Homeopathic practitioners select remedies according to a total picture of the patient, including not only symptoms but lifestyle, emotional and mental states, and other factors.
Most homeopathic remedies are derived from natural substances that come from plants, minerals, or animals. A remedy is prepared by diluting the substance in a series of steps. Homeopathy asserts that this process can maintain a substance's healing properties regardless of how many times it has been diluted. Many homeopathic remedies are so highly diluted that not one molecule of the original natural substance remains. Remedies are sold in liquid, pellet, and tablet forms.
Here is some general information that has been reported about risks and side effects in homeopathy:
* Homeopathic medicines in high dilutions, taken under the supervision of trained professionals, are considered safe and unlikely to cause severe adverse reactions.25
* Some patients report feeling worse for a brief period of time after starting homeopathic remedies. Homeopaths interpret this as the body temporarily stimulating symptoms while it makes an effort to restore health.
* Liquid homeopathic remedies can contain alcohol and are permitted to have higher levels of alcohol than conventional drugs for adults.
* Homeopathic remedies are not known to interfere with conventional drugs; however, if you are considering using homeopathic remedies, you should discuss this with your health care provider.
