I find it interesting that you didn't say what political party you were associated with but all of the responses assumed that you were a republican.
I also noticed that your question was aimed at the individual citizen's belief structure and hypocracy...saying one thing while doing the opposite....as apposed to what the political party leaders are spewing out of their mouths in order to keep the citizenry divided.
I like the way you worded your question and description except I don't think you seperated personal and political beliefs enough. You asked about the individual's personal belief (and actions) about paying more taxes in order to support their political beliefs, not the political parties belief and what Hillery, GW, and Obama are saying about each other.
The people who didn't want to answer your question threw out personal attacks at you and the leaders of both parties. They missed the point. They personally attack you because if they were pinned down and had to answer the question, no doubt would remain of their hypocrisy.
I think the question you were trying to ask was:
Do you personally think it is hypocritical of you to believe in paying more in taxes yet you take every step possible not to?
Yes! I would definitely consider myself a hypocrit if I did that. It's called integrity... doing the right thing even when nobody is looking.
Government is too self-serving (both parties), they are really only looking out for their own interests and survival by trying to divide the people. I am conservative in nature but will not hang my hat on any party until I see some integrity, probably not in my lifetime

Claiming excemptions and deductions is NOT a trait of any one political ideology.
So, you want people's political views to effect how tax law applies to them.
What other laws are you going to promote to discriminate agains people who disagree with you?
What democrats are arguing for (if you paid any attention to public discourse, you'd know this) is that the tax cuts for the very richest people should be reversed.
Instead of only taxing people who have little or no money, we think that rich people should also have to pay taxes.
Uh, the idea that Republicans favor small government hasn't been true for quite some time now.
Republicans favor expanding the power of government, but only when it takes rights away from, or otherwise hurts most citizens.
Democrats think government should serve citizens.
Republicans USED to be for fiscal responsibility -- not spending more than you take in.
Bush has put the country into crushing debt that will rob subsequent generations beyond the forseeable future.
No doubt, you think destroying the lives of your children, and their children, and their children and their children and their children is a good thing.

Come on Republicans pay your fair share on your taxes too. The Republican administration has given outrageous tax breaks to the rich, while taxing the poor and middle class to death. Oh and by the way how do the Republicans plan to pay this war bill that we have looming over our heads? Bush has mortgaged this entire country to China, a communist nation I might add, so that he can give a democracy to a country in the Middle East. Why isn't he concerned about China's democracy. Oh and China's nuclear weapons plan, that should be interesting. I'm sure our economics sanctions against a country we OWE trillions of dollars to are going to be very effective. Oh and by the way, I am a Democrat, I took the standard deduction this year and I still owed a tidy little sum to the government.

Strange that the largest federal governments, the biggest federal deficits have all come about under a Repub president (Regan, Bush Sr, and Bush Jr.). The myth that conservatives want small government is getting tiresome. Even conservatives don;t belive it anymore.. Here's any idea for you, since Repubs like spending federal tax dollars so much, as evidence by the record federal spending under Regan, Bush Sr, and baby Bush, if you are a registered Repub you get an extra 15% taken out of your checks to support your Repub president runaway spending.

Arent the republicans the ones who ran up a deficit that is almost 1 trillion dollars? Niether party can claim the fiscally responsible party after the last 6 yrs. And the republicans can no longer claim to be conservative on fiscal matters.
Signed.....a disolutioned republican

I think that would be fair because the military draft that is soon to be in effect will only draft those who voted REPUBLICAN as they are the ones who got us into this WAR under the Commander In Thief GW TUSH!!!
GW Tush is for securing the oil supply at any cost of lives and resources so big oil can make lots of money. He has also made the Republican Party history.

You are really reaching! Pretty amusing how cons keep trying to come up with anti-liberal disparaging remarks. This question is a perfect example of an angry radical right-wing Republican.

Bush has given us a record deficit even when he was given a surplus.
If you are worried about government spending, you may want to start with him first.
