When they fire Millen and start signing players they need.....THEY DON'T NEED WIDE RECEIVERS!! THEY NEED OFFENSIVE LINE AND DEFENSE!!!!!! They wasted the best running back to ever play the game and never gave him a chance to win the big one, that is a disgrace and the Lions should be suspended as a team for doing something so horrible!

Heh..Honestly...odds say that the Lions win the Super Bowl..EVENTUALLY...but past history leads me to say that they never will....

Calvin Johnson will suffer the same fate as Barry Sanders.....it's a shame...

Yes, eventually all the teams will as long as the NFL stays afloat.

Actually, if Stanton evolves under Martz and Johnson works out like a true #2 pick and if Jones can come back healthy with Duckett providing short yardage gains, then the offense should be good.

They still need to straighten out the defense. I agree with trading Bly now. He was too expensive and they have deficiencies in other areas to spend money on. Besides, Marinelli uses the "Tampa two" scheme, which doesn't require a shut down corner. Marinelli is getting the D-line he needs to stop the run, although they need to figure out how to get pressure on the QB. The LB corps got a start with Ernie Sims playing well, but they need a strong upgrade.

As long as Millen doesn't get involved and they can keep building, they might be playoff contenders within the next 3-4 years.

Remember in today's NFL, teams can go up and down in just a couple of seasons if the right moves are made. Look at the Raiders and Buccaneers. They were in the Super Bowl just 5 years ago, now both are fighting to stay out of the bottom. Meanwhile, a team like San Fran who had the number one pick just a few years ago, and who's front office was said to be in the same disarray that the Lions have now, are considered playoff contenders.

Im a huge Detroit Lions fan....and I live in New York. Yes so what does that tell ya about my trueness to this team.

I dont see why the Lions cant make it to the Superbowl, I mean lets look at there offense. Jon Kitna isnt the QB of the future but he can get the job done. People complain about his Int, but when your in a Martz system thats why your going to do but it also means your going to score alot. If i was a defense id have to worry about guarding Roy Williams who anyone can agree is a great WR. But now if you double team him can you double team Calvin Johnson too, and if you can that means you still have to worry about Mike Furrey. The RB is decent. I still wish we would of lost to the Saints in 05 because if we did then we would of had Reggie Bush. But instead we have Kevin Jones and Tatum Bell and I think between the two youll be fine.

The defense has been the big problem. We had guys like Ernie Simms and Shaun Rogers who are great but we still give up too many points, but I belive that in the next few years we wont be a top defense like Ravens, Bears and Charges but we will be the next in line right next to Pats. Alot of people have a problem with us getting rid of Dry Bly but im one of the happiest that we did, he was becoming a distraction to the team and was the one who helped Joey lose his job at QB.

Our special teams is decent as well. Eddie Drummond was huge his first year and didnt show anything his 2nd. But that means he should have a decent year this time.

Looking at the schedule I honestly can see them going 8-8 and in The NFC that could easily mean a Wild Card Birth. And especially in the NFC North when our only compition is the Bears, all that needs to happen is there defense to sink, which it could without Briggs and Tank. Then you have to pray that Rex Grossmen can get the job done, and that just isnt going to happen. So The Lions deffinlty have a shot at the Superbowl, maybe not this year but I say give it 3-4 years and we could get there.

I don't see why not. Nobody ever thought the New England Patriots would win one, and then they drafted Tom Brady. Nobody thought the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could ever win one, yet, they did. Teams in the NFL get good, and get bad, its cyclical. It wasn't too long ago that the Colts went 1-15, now they are Superbowl champs. I don't think its fair to say that any NFL team will never win a Superbowl, and the Lions do have a lot of offensive talent. If their defense plays above its level, who knows what could happen?

I agree with xcef2005, all the proponents are there for the offense. Everywhere Kitna goes he is dogged but he is still in the league and still playing. He fits nicely into Martz system and everywhere he leaves, he has taught / trained a younger QB that has done great things.

The defense needs to be sured up, but Bly was a good release. They need guys who will play like a team and win as a team. Tampa Bay in their hayday were great because they bought into the defensive scheme and played into it. Detrioit has the right elements they just need to buy into it.

I also think Millen has the cushiest job out there, he is screwing the Lions everyday but they keep the idiot. Until they replace Millen with someone who knows what they are doing and actually cares about the Lions they will struggle

LOL oh boy what a question.

I think that they need new owners and without a doubt a new GM before it will ever happen. The Lions have become such a non factor that nobody ever thinks about them having a chance. They haven't had a decent QB in decades and they still don't. It seems that all their hyped up draft picks turn out to be busts year after year.

Step one is finding owners who really care that the Lions stink, because if the current owners did Matt Millen would be unemployed.

Maybe in 2010 they are one of my 2 sleepers they are 1 of 5 teams to miss the playoffs since the inaugural went to 32 teams the other teams
1. Lions
2. Cardinals
3. Dolphins
4. Bills
5. Texans
The Saints were on this list last year so 1 of these teams will make the playoffs this year I guarantee it.

In the NFL, you're never that far behind (look at New Orleans, one key offseason acquisition and an explosive rookie, and they went all the way to the NFC Championship game). Detroit has the talent, I love Mike Martz and his ability to run offenses. But Matt Millen is a horrible GM, and as long as he is around, the Lions will not be serious contenders.

Well "ever" is a long time, so most likely they will win at least one. If the Saints can manage to win one, then I'm sure the Lions eventually will. They seem to be on the right track.

Ok clowns, ya'll are gonna stop dogging my Lions like this. I think we will, but not anytime soon. With the management we have, we also have serious holes in our defense. We got a lot of work to do. I don't care, I'm standin' by my team, I'm a TRUE fan. Lions all the way baby!!!!
