Are Americans easier to get along with, are they more generous, than we are what are their best qualities, just interseted as i used to drive them around London in a coach found them great people

Americans are no different from anyone else although they may have a different sense of humour than us brits - basically it's like any culture etc, you meet some good people and some not so good exactly the same as in britain. I myself have met a few Americans and most of them have been soooo nice although there have been a couple (Senior Directors) who have not been so nice.

I'm glad to hear that you've had good experiences with Americans, plenty of people can't or won't say that.
I think you will find with Americans that no 2 are alike, you could meet a great American one time and the next one you meet might be a complete jerk.
I define an American as anyone who has lived here for the majority of their life. You may have been born to parents from {insert your country here} but if you were raised here - I don't care what the skin heads say: You're an American.

I guess that they are some Americans who are as generous and as pleasant to know as anyone else.
There are also some who will shoot you or do some other horrible thing to you if you cross them.

I have always found Yanks to be on the whole kind and generous. with the exeptiomn of officials who seem to confuse being tough with being rude and overbearing

I found the Americans to be far more polite than us Brits,they were very nice,friendly & helpful.
