I'm on a wireless router, and now all of a sudden my internet just randomly dies on me. It says 'connected with limited access' and it's really making me frustrated. Also, when I do get to connect to a network, all the names of the networks now have a little shield with an exclamation mark beside them. What happened?

ensure that your wireless network adapter is using the latest driver and that you are in decent range of the WLAN you are connecting to. The shield thing you are seeing may be specific to the manufacturer of your wireless network adapter.

I suspect you are fairly distant from your wireless access point and the distance is the problem.

First confirm that the modem and router are ok. You do this by using a wired CAT5 patch cord to connect your pc to the LAN port of the router. If it behaves properly for at least twice the time it has taken wireless to fail, we know the modem and router (non-wireless part) are fine.

Next remove the wired and run wirelessly while you hava clear, visable line of site to access point with a distance less than 50 ft. If this performs properly for at least twice the time you saw failure, you have confirmed your initial problem is wireless network access - either due to distance or blockage.

Wirless will not penetrate through masonry, metal (ducts in the wall are a major issue), silver backed mirrors, etc. A distance of over 200 ft can be an issue too.

The 'Limited Access' message means that you can connect to your wireless router, but you are not getting an IP address.
