I have an exhaust leak and i really dont plan on fixing it because i cant do it myself. It is leaking around the donut by the mainfold. If i do fix it sometime, i want to do somethint to make it louder. I was thinking duals with glasspacks, but what will be less expensive and still sound good? I am not just going to cut off the muffler, it sounds crappy. Any advise or opinoins are appreciated.

I dont just want to cut the muffler off after the caddie converters because i dont think it sounds very good and it is a litel louder than what i want. Straight pipes are way louder than what i want which are the same thing as just cuttin off the muffler pretty much.

Glasspacks are the cheapest muffler option. Cutting the pipes off is the absolute cheapest. From what you say, Flowmasters will be too much because glasspacks are dirt cheap and you want cheaper than that. The cats will provide a little flow restriction, but glasspacks are still better. The number one advantage of glasspacks is actually having a "muffler" on your truck when police start hassling you.

It all depends on what year your truck is. If it is a late 1990's model or newer i would just put straight pipes and leave the catylatic convertor on it. You wouldnt think it would sound good but it actually does. If it is an older model truck, cut the cats off and put like a 40 series flowmaster or if you can find it a mello-tone muffler is even better. They are constructed better and sound alot better than a flowmaster.

A muffler shop can repair that leak in a few minutes. They just have to weld it together. Might cost you $30.00.

Take a look at this link...

Look at the V-Force Mufflers. These mufflers are basically the same thing as Flowmasters, but they are half the price!

I like this muffler becuase it has a very deep tone while idling, and has an agressive tone while accelerating. It has its own unique sound and I am happy I went with this brand. I believe their website also has sound clips.

Easy way - punch some holes in your muffler. It will sound loud, but probably like **** at the same time. Other cheap way - go to autozone and pick up some straight exhaust piping, cut your muffler off, put those on, and bolt a tip on.

My wife says to tell you that if you simply take OFF the muffler it will be REALLY loud and it will not cost you anything except the cost of the saw blade(s).

(and the ticket of course)

.(honest.. that was HER response.. ME, I woud go with a decent muffler system like an eliminator or something... you need a little backpressure on the valves to make them work right.

just go with straight pipes. you can have any muffler shop fabricate them.
If you have a leak at the donut, have the leak repaired. this can cause a carbon monoxide vapor in the cab.

My best advice to you is to not do it....your not impressing anyone if anything people will see you as loud and obnoxious. Be courteous because not alot of people want to hear it.
