Get some Deacon but the trap is more humane. I hate poison myself. The trap will work swiftly and the mouse will got lie dead in your home. Ask a friend for help.
The mouse will not hurt you but she will nest in your cloths drawer and chew stuff. Mice climb. They can climb straight up a rough wall.
Find where they come into the home and block access. Typically around holes for pipes that are too large. Get a handy man to come in and seal with something like tin foil if not better. They will not chew it. Get a family member or friend to help if you must.
The mouse is more afraid of you than you of it. Mice don't like showers.

If you have seen one there are a lot more. Sorry to scare you. Anyway they will not hurt you , but they make a mess and chew things up. I would set those traps, put a bit of chocolate in them. Then , tomorrow go and buy some poison in the hardware shop. I expect people will say it is cruel, but I have this problem as I live in the country. If it's not the mice it's the ants. Poison is the only thing that works in the long term, I caught 17 once in traps and there were still others ! Don't use it if you have animals though.
Edit : New poisons have been developed that they don't get used to. I am speaking from experience , not hearsay.

Well don´t be scared, after all the mouse is smaller than you. Mice come in through small cracks climb up pipes.Mice only live where there is a fresh supply off food. So make sure you sweep up at night put the garbage out last thing at night, keep all food stuff in tight lidded container´s. If you don´t leave them anything to eat they want come for lunch. So they will pack their bags and move to another hotel

Someone's probably already wrote this but get a humane trap I got one off e-bay which can hold 10 mice, it is much more effective then the little ones they sell (had 2 of those as well) they go for toffee popcorn.
Mice are timid animals and will leg it as soon as they hear you coming so just bang about until you get the traps

Well you're gonna have to set the mouse traps. Make a lot of noise as you walk around, the mouse is more scared than you and won't come out if it knows you're there. It will come out at night when everything's quiet and hopefully get it's horrid little head caught in your trap. Good luck.
PS - just read the answers above and below, poison doesn't work, they get to like it! It is possible to have just one, don't worry.

Doubt if it stayed there no food. They are more afraid of you than you are of them and will not harm, nor attack you. Sorry to say if you seen 1 mouse, there are more always are. Set out some De-con before they start to do damage. (Set against walls behind things they tend to stay near them)

Kill it with a hammer!
Hate to tell you this but mice generally don't live alone...you'll probably have an infestation and you will probably be woken up tonight with one crawling over your face while you sleep....they're looking for the warmth you see.
Try not to worry though, they're only little........night night, sleep tight.

get a cat and only feed it 3 times a week...keep it hungry so it has to hunt for its food (mice)...when all signs of mice gone, feed cat regularly and say good kitty!
Good luck!
