Actually the Yankees have according to many scouts, GM's and Baseball America one of the best systems stockpiled with power arms with high ceilings. The Yankees are in a transition period at the moment the only thing that could hurt is George going nuts and trading youth for aging veterans. Or making bad free agent signings (Sheffeild instead of Vlad Guerrero). With Brian Cashman in total control the Yankees have had two excellent and deep drafts traded veterans for power arms signed free agents (Clemens and Igawa) who did not cost them draft picks. Also everyone keeps stating that they are paying Clemens 28 million that is not true. Let me explain it is a 28 million dollar contract but it is pro rated which means he only gets paid for when he was on the major league roster. Since he didn't get on the major league roster until mid June the contract is actually worth about 17 million.
As for the Igawa contract it was getting an awful arm for 4 million a year.
Now A-Rod is a goner good riddance, save some cash and sign a third baseman in the mold of a Scott Brosious or Joe Crede type. Someone who is excellent defensivley and hits between 270 - 300. A-Rod in Boston would be a nightmare for Redsox fans. He will have his usual numbers but he just doesn't get east coast baseball and how much pressure there is. I am a diehard Yankees fan and I know diehard Redsox fans, the media in Boston is just as insane as it is in NY and I don't think he is the kind of player who will thrive switching sides in the rivalry. He will either become an Angel or a Giant. They have the most money to burn with less media spotlight.
Why the Redsox would let Lowell go for A-Rod is crazy.
I said it at the end of last season and have been saying it again all season that the Yankees goal is not 2007 never has been its winning the World Series in 2008 or 2009 to either close Yankee Stadium with a championship or open the new Stadium with a Championship. Cashman will get a new contract and Joe will be let go (his contract ends at the end of the season). Don Mattingly or Joe Girardi will get the job (more likely Mattingly) and look for a new hitting coach.

The last time I checked, it was still 26-2, in favor of the Yankees over the Twins. I would like to know how bad does it suck to be you, @sshole? The H in your name must stand for homo right? And you were named Nathan because of the same thing.

#1 - This would be the first time since 1996.
#2 - Season's only 55-60% over. Yankees could still make the playoffs.
#3 - Last I checked, A-Rod is still on the team, and leading the AL with 31 HR and 87 RBI.
#4 - A-Rod's gonna want $35-$40 million dollars. Boston can't afford him, after what they spent to get Matsuzaka and JD Drew.
#5 - You know nothing about baseball. Take a hike.

This is why I hate the Red Sox, annoying fans like you who brag everytime they have a lead over the Yankees.
Oh, and can you say ''Bucky Dent'' and ''26''?
