I called a radio station to answer a question in a contest called "Freakin' Hard Trivia"... I was the second person to go on the air... and I got the correct answer... I won tickets to a comedy club and some tax software.... my brother once called a radio station to answer a question about the Rolling Stones, and he won tickets to their show.... who do you think got the better deal?

in case you're calling right into a station that incredibly IS community, then i'd lean in the direction of the reasons given by using previous respondents. yet be conscious that maximum radio stations in the U.S. have been offered up by using mega-company broadcast chains (Cumulus Broadcasting, sparkling Channel, for examples), and are customarily programmed centrally from some distant area. certainly, various stations in some distance-flung factors that have the comparable format (person modern-day, u . s . a ., and so on.) would all be remotely programmed from Dallas or Chicago or another place. As for the community stations, i'd lean in the direction of success being the dominant element in getting by to the printed sales area -- a minimum of for contests and giveaways. do no longer anticipate any of them taking requests any further. Request lines, frequently, have long gone the way of the passenger pigeon.

Yeah. I had both 98 Rock and DC 101 on speed dial the last time I lived in the D.C. metro area. I won some cool prizes, plus got some neat comps, too. Got to know some of their on-air personalities pretty well through the local music scene. Still miss some of those folks.

I've tried to win tickets when I knew the answers, but the phone was always busy. So no, I've never won. But I have been mentioned on the radio for my birthday!

No, actually i hate the way my voice sounds on the phone or answering machine so I would hate for the world to hear me. Everyone tells me i should get a 1-900 number and it is very funny but not if you get my drift.

I am tempted once in a while, too, but I skip it because there are always people who actually know how to do it and they almost always win.
