I like my independence and ability to make a contribution to the home with money I actually earned. The mere thought of relying on my husband for a life simply because he's wealthy scares me. My dignity is worth more than staying home and being a braindead trophy wife.

Okay, a little confusion here. I don't mean ALL stay at home women are braindead.
Unfortunately though, in my experiences, every single woman I've known who stayed at home had very little to talk about beyond doing laundry. There was no discussion of careers, politics, current events, movies, life in general, culture, etc. When your mind is only on caring for the home and cleaning as opposed to getting out in the world and opening your mind, you tend to become a little...boring. Not all are like this but sadly, a good many are.
And with me, well, I like knowing I can support myself should something happen in the relationship. Another reason I'd rather work than be supported.

i would love to stay at home as currently hate my job but if i was at home all the time i would get very bored, and i like being independent and having my own money and not relying on him

id like to work part time and spend more time with my kids
but im a single mother so that is not an option
and to the one who answered before me
stay at home moms should not be considered braindead

my hubby would have me stay home and take care of things I know he would end of story . I would kind of like it though and then again maybe not . good luck .
