I am a proud Scot but equally proud to be British. For an island this size and the contribution it has put into the developing world, it can never be over estimated. If this island wasn't united then The Spanish Armada would have got their way, Napoleon would have invaded us before taking over the World. If Churchill never had the determination and guts and rallying everyone then Hitler would have knocked us out before conquering the USA.
Isn't it sad to see countries which Britain once administred and helped develop being in total dissaray today, Pakistan, Zimbabwe to name a few? I think the Romans did a great job also.
P.S. The name 'Great' Britain is not as in we are Greater than you. It means Greater as in the mainland and surrounding islands, Isle of Man, Shetlands, Hebrides.

Most people think of their own country as the greatest. National pride. I am an American and I think mine is. I'm not deaf or blind though. I know we have a lot of problems and we are losing respect and friends around the world.

Most believe theirs is so I will say Ireland. I probably dont really believe that though but im not going to knock it either.. I always say you can measure how great a Country is by the way they look after their sick, elderly and poor. We in Ireland have a long way to go so.. Were not the worst though. Some Countries who claim to be great seem to find Billions to fight wars but cant seem to find the money even to look after their Animals never mind their poor ..Isnt that right eh Great britain

No one knows for sure. All persons have different perspectives on this point. Well in my view it is either the UK, japan, or China.
Those countries are very powerful.
