A troll is a person who posts an answer (or question) meant to incite a reaction in the reader, such as mocking religion or saying something so disgustingly vulgar, people just have to respond.
Ugly women aren't usually called trolls. Hags is the word you want. (And I'll go comb my hair as soon as I post this, okay?)

I certainly am no woman. I am sometimes and with some justice accused of being a troll. The most polite definition I've heard is someone who posts comments just to get responses (read arguments). This is often called trolling and Usenet groups and blogs with long-established members will often use the warning "Do not feed the troll". Am I feeding one?

Jess is right but a troll is normally known for reporting peoples questions and answers. Most likely the cause for a person to get suspended because of too many suspended q&a's.Thank the trolls for all the violation notices you get if you ever get any.

No, my friend, a "Troll" as the word is refered to here, is a person that asks inflamatory questions just to get a lot of answers and to make people mad.
A troll might ask a question like "Why are Mexicans so stupid?" just to see how much attention he gets.
