I would buy a hardcover because although they are more expensive, they don't break as easily as paperbacks, they don't wear out as fast, and the covers are more flexible so it's harder to damage the pages.

I buy almost all my books used. Most of the time they are in brand new condition-hardcover and paperback as well. It seems people read a book once and resell it. I use http://campusi.com as a search engine.

that's weird and wonderful, they're all available in paperback the place I stay, and hardcover. i think of hardcovers are extra constructive, yet extra high priced. My Twilight paperbacks are all folded with creases on the covers - yet that's basically by fact I certainly have study them 6+ situations each and each.

I only buy hardbacks when their prices are reduced to paperback price, unless it is very special. I did buy on of the Harry Potter books the day when it came out, but shared it with two friends.
Now I get a loan of their new book as soon as they are finished with it.

And I am buying some books as e-books, to get the book when it is still new, but not paying a lot.
(I like books that are published in the USA, but live in the Netherlands, so hardbound books are half again as expensive.)

Usually wait til the paperback comes out because there is so much to read I can wait, and it gives me that to look forward to.

But once in awhile I treat myself. And I always buy Tom Wolfe's books in hardback but he only writes one every few years.

If I am going to buy a book its use deems what I buy. If it is a book I will use repeatedly I will always buy hardback. But if it is something I will read once I will either buy paperback or...............go to the library and check it out.
