Ibanez is easily the Best "name brand" guitar in the Low Budget space.

They also make some which are VERY upscale and Highly Respected Pro Instruments.

The GREAT ones are made in original factory in Japan,,
Their low priced ones are Korean or Chinese.
They're NOT the "same" as each other.

Even so,,,the Cheapies are Well Built,,solid materials and good craftsmanship.

Lots of people buy Cheap Ibanez guitars & do not expect much.
Almost EVERYBODY eventually finds they got a guitar that's a Lot better than they Expected,,,
and lots of people end up Playing them a lot longer than they expected.

Ask anybody who owns one or who's had one.
Or if you can,,,Go to a local Music Store and check out how the different guitars Sounds and Feel.

I'm not knocking any of your 3 choices.
The Ibanez's are just better sound/playing guitars, and they better built.

Plus it's amp comes with Reverb.
For a beginner,,a little bit of reverb adds a Richness to the sound which is a lot more "rewarding" or "inspiring" when you're trying to get the hang of a single note change or chords.
It just Sounds better which is more encouraging than the plain/flat/dry sound of No reverb.

So the amp's reverb is a sorta bonus.
..................................................................................................
In "Value Packs",,,all the stuff is Junk.
There's a Nicer way to say it I'm sure,,,,but truth is Guitar Stuff is Expensive,,You cant get something for nothing.

The Good part is,,you get Everything you Need to get started,,,all at once in a box,,,and it's way cheaper than buying it all separate.

But to Sell all that so Cheap,,,they GOTTA cut Corners.
NONE of the "extras" last very long,,,,including the amps.
But it is good enough to get started,,,,and to learn enough about Guitars and Amps and Playing that your Next Investment in playing is Well Spent cuz you got some experience.

And Lots of people have very good luck with the stuff in the value packs.
Junky or not.
It's all still a good deal.

Most important thing that you are buying is the Guitar Itself.
Ya gotta figure that all the Value Pack accesory stuff is sorta "temporary".

Even the Guitars are "Beginner Guitars".

Me,,and most people I know of or have heard from would rate the GUITARS from Ibanez as being a cut Above "Beginner" guitars.

..........................................................
Ok,,that Epihone SG youre looking at......
Man,,I got some Originals.
Old Gibson SG's are long time favorites of mine.
Me and Lots of other folks.

I'm NOT<< ,,Not bashing the Epiphone.
But the only thing about it that's SG is it's name.
A bad SG is about as sorry a guitar as you can find.

A Bad Les Paul,or Telecaster,or Stratocaster is Still a Decent guitar-----and it may take Time & Money,,but they can be "fixed" to be pretty much what they're sposed to be.

SG's are strange because of their construction ,,resonance, etc.
They're REAL "hit or miss".
I've gone thru 100's of Supposed to be "Good Ones",,Original Vintage Gibsons,,,to find each onethat I've bought,,that was worth buying at a decent price.
I'm NO EXPERT,,,but I know what sounds good and what dont.
Most SG's really DONT.
Mine are Pretty Good,,I've got a lifelong friend who has one thats EASY the best Sounding & Playing SG I ever heard.

They Look alike,,,and Feel alike,,,but the Tone is like entirely different guitars.
Everytime somebody plays Mine,,,,
they're like "Wow man,,I''m gonna get an SG".
I'm always like,,,,"Uhhhh,,,Good Luck".
At least they can get the LOOKS,,but there's no gaurantee on how they'll play/sound.
.............................................................................

Meanwhile,,,the lil Les Paul Jr's are amazing guitars for $99.

They're Cheapie as can be.
But the way they are designed and built makes them Good Sounding guitars even when made with all "cheap stuff"

Even a BAD one sounds and plays Good.
It's just their Nature.
The Low price,,,and the name "JUNIOR" leaves them VERY Overlooked.

They're GREAT guitars,,,and probably the cheapest GOOD beginner guitar.

Then down the road,,,you can spend a few bucks to add a killer pickup if ya want.
They'll Shame a LOT of $500~700 guitars.
They Feel good,sound good,play good.
Read the reviews on 'em

If I had $200 Budget,,,,

I'd get either the cheap Ibanez IJX40 Value pack

Or,,..................

the $99 Les Paul ,JR Value Pack and spend $15~20 on a electronic Tuner NOW ,,
and a better Amp in a few months

But I'd play the Value Pack's AMP a while and get used to the guitar/amp/and playing,,
THEN shop for an Amp LATER when I had a better idea of what I wanted,,and "how to Listen" to an Amp when trying them out,,,what features, all that.

BEST thing You can do if at all possible is to go somewhere so that you can TRY the different guitars.

Good Luck,,and have fun

hey, have you had a look at the yamaha pacifiers? their supposed to be decent guitars on a budget, or if not, i own 1 of these http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Les-Paul-Special-II-Electric-Guitar?sku=518334 bought it as a starter but it plays really well, have had it for 4-5 years now and it still delivers, the neck pick-up sounds sweet and the neck is thin so easy to get up and down, i have a few vids on youtube if you wanna check it out, no effects, just that guitar and a marshall, http://www.youtube.com/chelskiman . hope this helps, good luck .

I bought the Squier SE special for my daughter a couple of years back and it's pretty good. Must admit the Epiphone does look nice though.

Had Squire strat was very happy with it. Here is where I bought most of my stuff online, they are great to work with and prices are good. The amp is where the problem will be yes you will hear it but would look at upgrading that in the near future

several manufacturers (Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Etc.) have beginers kits (guitar, amp, etc). i would not go by look or brand but i would go to a local store and try them out. see what feels comfortable and what sounds good. and i don't mean plug into an expensive amp, plug it into the amp that comes with the kit. that way you will know what it sounds like at home. good luck.

I don't really know. Guitars are expensive these days, I'm not sure you could get one under $200 dude. Maybe under $300 you could.Look at www.guitarcenter.com

Don't get Epiphones! They just copy of Gibson guitars.
