Here are the specs:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=775Dual-VSTA&s=
It only says "1 PCI Express Graphics slot" and not x16 PCIe. It could just be an x8 PCIe. It could bottlneck high end video cards like the 8800GTS and higher. But the 8600GT would just be fine in that motherboard.

yes mate,as previously mentioned the AsRock 775dual-VSTAis a dual slot(agp/pci-e)motherboard
however i would go for either a single ot sli pci-e slot motherboard,as i,m not a big fan of these agp/pci-e motherboards,i mean why put a agp slot on a pci-express board,it dosent make sense
well done on choosing the nvidia geforce 8600gt,although not as fast as the 8800 series ,ive seen this card in action and its a very capable card, and is easy capable of reaching 100fps in most modern games
the more expensive 8800gtx is for hard core gamers who want frame rates of 200+ fps, however the benchmark for seamless gaming is around 50fps so why do we need 200fps
good luck mate!

Depends on the slot on the motherboard.
Also make sure you have the right amount of power and cable. I bought a new graphics card and when I got home, I saw that i needed a "sli" power cable. Also, my current power supply was not adequate. I would also need to get a new power supply.
