Each state has it's own Medicaid rules but to apply for Medicaid, you need to provide them confirmation of a positive pregnancy test either through a clinic, or a community health unit. Some of those teen crisis pregnancy centers offer pregnancy testing and can give you the slip you need to give Medicaid to prove you are pregnant. Once you apply, you can discuss with your worker, getting your temporary case ID number so that you can go ahead and make a doctors appt. and see a doctor while you wait for your permanent card. Talk to your worker about it when you apply.

I have medicaid. I know in Oregon that if you need to see a doctor sooner, then you just need to have a time stamped application. If you see a doctor after you have the application, then it will be covered. But why do you need to see a doctor right away? Do you think there is something wrong or is it because you need proof of pregnancy? Because you can get proof of pregnancy from planned parenthood. Just make sure you keep the little sheet they give you and turn it in with the medicaid application.

Where I live the medicaid will cover the last 3 months of healthcare. What they need is a proof of pregnancy slip. You can get that from any volunteer planned-parenthood type of place. They just have you pee in a cup and use a test and then give you an official proof of pregnancy paper- you'll need it to get covered as you can't just say yeah I'm pregnant and have them believe it~

Make your appt. with the doctor. They may schedule you a couple weeks down the road, but nevertheless make that appt now. The earlier the better. Also, medicaid once you are approved covers 3 months back so if you go to the doctor before your medicaid is approved they will cover your appt once you are.

Hi I used to be a medical biller and once you have signed up for medicaid almost any office that accepts it will see you because without a doubt you will be approved when your pregnant, and the letter you get saying your approved will date back to at the very least the day you apply in most cases further, and they know how to get paid, for past services. The Very Best Wishes to you and Yours.

you should pay for the initial doctors visit until your insurance kicks in, be advised there is no guarantee you will qualify for medicaid, I have no health insurance and i do not qualify for medicaid, so i pay my doctor each visit a few hundred and will need to pay the hospital ahead of time.they set up payment plans for you. If you need to see a doctor now then you will have to bite the bullet and pay. What state are you in? There is something here in nevada called first choice pregnancy services which gives you free ultrasound and counceling and care for the first few visits, they are non profit run by a church, maybe you have something like that in your state?

If you were told that you need to go to the doctors right away, your best bet is to go. Your doctor can bill you and once you receive your Medicaid, mail the bill to the Medicaid office - they will cover any upaid medical bills for up to 3mos.

If you are approved for Medicaid, the should cover back 90 days of expenses. You will need to go to a doctor who takes it though, and they will likely enroll you in an HMO.

your application is going to take 45 days to fully process and make sure you take a confirmation of viable pregnancy to them also (you can obtain that from a free health clinic look in your local yellow pages) and when you are approved then you dont have to go to their doctors you can call around and find a docotrs office you're comfortable with that accepts medicaid.

There is nothing wrong with waiting a couple of weeks to see your doctor. Please start taking vitamin right away. Rx prenatal vitamins are what you need and the doctor will give them to you. Congratulations and good luck.
Go ahead and sign up for WIC as soon as possible.
