Manual usually means that the driver is operating the clutch and moving the car into gear by himself using some kind of pedal and gearstick.
The others are - automatic where the clutch and gear change is controlled and changed for the driver, either fully auto ( the car will go up and down the gears by its self )
- semi auto ( the driver must select the gear required but the clutch is being operated automatically )
