Thx for thousand x.
But , should I replace the water pump and hoses. When the suspension wears out, make sure you get the best possible BMW 328i shocks like Bilstein, Sachs, Monroe, Tokico, or KYB. as Sir >Snagelfritz suggested??

BMW stopped using timing belt since 1992. Your car uses 2 timing chains...

... which is good for at least 200,000 miles.

If you are worried about the car being neglected, you can send it in to the dealer to do a "pre-purchase inspection" (I know it's kinda late). It might cost an hour's labor ($90-$110 depending on where you live).

But if your concern is just about the timing chain, unless there's something abnormal leading you to suspect something is wrong with the chain (eg; weird noises...etc), there is no reason why the chain should need replacement.

Above are correct. If, you can do this yourself it probably less than $50. I not sure of BMW, but, some cars when the belt break a piston can hit a valve. Though most just die, it a chance situation that can cost more money.

Don’t forget to replace that BMW 328i timing belt before it breaks, oh yeah! At the same time, you should replace the water pump and hoses. When the suspension wears out, make sure you get the best possible BMW 328i shocks like Bilstein, Sachs, Monroe, Tokico, or KYB. If you are an enthusiast like we all are, you will definitely want to add some performance to your BMW 328i.

If you have the US model 98 328I then you should have the M52 motor with a timing chain and not a belt.
I could not find a service interval for a timing chain, and would suggest checking with your local BMW dealership to ease your concerns an dverify that you have a chain and not a belt.
Timing chains rarely have to be changed.

105,000 is the norm on timing belt replacement. Attempting a timing belt replacement wouldn't be a big deal, but I wouldn't recommend a dual overhead cam as your first one to try! If it breaks, the motor isn't "History". Definite head work will result. Look for aftermarket repair facilities/techs on craigslist working on the side for some "more practical" prices The Internet is great... Did you ever notice how many ASE MASTER CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS there are on the internet. I've had ASE Masters work for me that knew jack about cars- it only means they know how to take the ASE test. Geeeesh....

Your car has M50 engine which is driven by timing chain. These things should last over 500K miles. However, At 94K,I would replace the water pump, spark plugs, drive belt, fuel filter, and bleed the brake system.

your must have M50 or M52(if upgraded) both using timing chains.u can easily go for 450-500k miles.
so dont worry about the chains.
if the tensioner is slack,u will hear a small knocking noise.get the dealers or qualified mechanic to tighten the tensioner.
enjoy driving yr BMW.

It doesn't have a timing belt, it has a timing chain and no, it doesn't need to be replaced. The original chain can last well into the 200K mile range.

Your car does not have a timing belt. Take it to your local dealer for the 90k service. The dealer will properly service the vehicle with BMW approved parts and they will advise you on all other service issues with your vehicle.
