My cycle started Jun22nd, I ovulated on the Jul 4th, my cycle is very irregular, so, I don't know when to expect it to test that day. So my question is which cycle day should I test on or how many days after ovulation should I test? I'm hoping this is my month...I have abdominal pain(twinges) heartburn, very sensitive nipples an I have not been feeling good for the past week and a half(light headed like I'm about to come down with the flu) my CM is white and creamy and my temp has been around 98.3 for over a week.

Hi there,

Okay here's the rule... you may ovulate at different times during your cycle (which is what gives you irregular cycles) but once you ovulate, your period start date is set. The luteal phase (which starts the day after ovulation and ends the day before your period starts) is always the same. The average luteal phase is 14 days. Some women may be a day earlier or a day later, but it doesn't vary that much. So in the future, you'll know when to calculate your next period due date based on the day you ovulated.

Having said that...here's how it works out on paper...
Ovulation date: July 04
Beginning luteal phase: July 05
End of luteal phase: July 18
Period begins: July 19, Day 1 of new cycle

This is assuming you have a 14-day luteal phase. Be sure to note what your luteal phase is for next time so you know when your period is due.

If I were you, I would just hold off and test on Thursday, the 19th. I wouldn't test any sooner than Tuesday, but if you can wait, try to do that so you don't make yourself crazy.

Good luck!!

Your temperature should be up at least 16 days if you are pregnant. I'd wait until then. Also, since you are tracking your temperature, don't you know the length of your luteal phase? Regardless of when you ovulate in a month, your luteal phase remains the same, usually not off by more than a day. I have irregular period too, but I know my luteal phase is 13 days, so I always know when my period is due.

If you for sure ovulated on July 4th, than you are 11 days past ovulation, and using a sensitive test you would probably get a positive by now. If you do take one and get a negative, I'd wait a few days and test again, especially if your temps are still up. Good luck.

I would wait until the end of the month and then test like around the 26 of the month that should give you a result or have the doctor check your HGC levels that might help also.. You will be able to that right about now or within the next couple of weeks

Most women ovulate 14 days before their period is due. Therefore your period is probaby due on 18th July.
Early pregnancy tests can detect hCG in the blood stream up to 5 days before your period is due. So you could take one now, if it shows up negative then you could still take another later this week if your period doesn't show up and your temp stays elevated.

Your other symptoms do sound like symptoms of the first signs of pregnancy, but as I'm sure you know they can also be symptoms of your period about to start.

Fingers crossed it's a positive for you. :0)

If you KNOW that you ovulated on July 4, an HPT should come out positive by July 18. Your period begins two weeks after you ovulate.

I would wait anywhere from 16-18 dpo just to be sure. If I were you I wouldn't test any sooner than the 20th, and if neg and no AF on the 22nd, I'd tes again. Good luck!

i would consult your doctor about this since your cycles are irregular. they may be able to help with how to pinpoint your most fertile time of the month.
