Good question, even better answer because o agree with you 100%. This year though, Champ Bailey should be coming into the season as the reigning DPOY, not Jason Taylor.

That's hard to tell because anyone can make a run at it. It could be Peyton again, although unlikely. Maybe LT can have another unbelivable season. Even Tom Brady could win it with the s***load of talent they brought in around him. Although identifying one person is tough, it's safe to say it'll be a QB or a RB like it's always been.

As for defense, any person at any position could win it, but here's a few candidates:

Jason Taylor: He's still going strong as ever. Dom Capers the DC for Miami did a great job moving him around last year and should do the same thing this year.

Champ Bailey: The true Shutdown Corner since Deion Sanders left. With Dre Bly on the other side of him now, teams might be forced to throw his way more, which could even result in more than his 10 picks performance last year. He's a great tackler and helps out in run support.

Adalius Thomas: Like Mike Martz fantasizes about great WRs, Bill Belichick must have been licking his chops when Thomas hit the Free Agent market. He is the perfect player for his multiple scheme defense where he can line him up anywhere on the field, creating mismatches left and right. Look for him to have double digit sacks, 3+ INTS and a few forced fumbles.

As far as overall MVP..well that can only be determined by the end of the season. Barring an unbelievable season by a defensive player, it's safe tos ay a QB or RB will take the top prize. Manning, Brady, and Brees have the best chances with the surrounding offenses they have and if they can repeat and surpass their play last year. And of course you can never count out the one man offense, LaDainian Tomlinson.

MVP and OFFENSIVE MVP- Drew Brees cause hes on the best team with the best offence
DEFENSIVE MVP- DJ Williams or Champ Bailey cause the Broncos defence is going to be the top one this year and DJ Williams is going to be the centre of it due to the departure of Al Wilson and well Champ is the best shutdown corner ever

offensive mvp will be steven jackson this guy will carry the rams to a good record he is due for a breakout year. i say 1749 yds rush, 745 rec. yds, 24 total tds (18 rush)

defensive mvp will be adalius thomas of the pats he will help the pats to be the best defense in the league, can play safetie, corner stick his hand in the dirt and play on the line and of course can rack up double digit sacks (19) because he has the best line so he cnt be doubled coming off the edge and probably like 7 ints and 4 or five forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries.

If Manning didnt win it last year and he had way better numbers than Brady did, i dont see brady winning it this year. even with the additions of WR, other teams really didnt wanted.

It wont be Manning Either.( I Think)
L.J. has no really good line to block for him, and his team is one dimension. ( run, run, run )

L.T. had a great season last year, but no repeat. Hard to repeat twice a year, especially when the media and the rest of America are expecting much from you..Just ask Alexander. McNair. and Manning or even Gannon.

Drew Brees and is my pick. it will either be him or Manning. depending which team has the better record by week 10.

Defensively i think it will be DE Derrick Burgess who should've been in 2005.

Offensive:

Tom brady because he has the wideouts (3 good wideouts) and he will inflict pain on many secondaries. The patss have upgraded their offense this offseason and tom brady will be on the bright side of that.

Defensive:

Adalius Thomas- he is playing on a great defense and i do see him getting many sacks and about 4 to 5 ints., and over 100 tackles. Adalius is my pick for defensive player of the year.

Offensive MVP will be LT Once again. There is no one better and their O-Line is one of the best in Football.

Audalius Thomas in the New England 3-4 defense will give him above normal numbers and think he could be the defensive player of the year.
