Hi!

When I was a kid, adults used to enjoy children playing and would even assist by offering by-products and technology from industry (like the hot-poker axel pivot for a bogy). Post "slum clearances", play seems to have become criminalised. Chalking a hopscotch grid on the pavement is now vandalism and there are far too many things that are classed as "youth nuisance".

What has changed and why? Can we reverse this negative process?

Looking forward to your answers.

We have grown afraid of childhood. Disney and the like have replaced it with a glitzy, plastic thing that is a romanticized version of what they think childhood is all about.

Childhood has all but ceased to exist. Kids have to be contemptuous of their parents, wiser and full of craft in order to be cool. Childhood sucks these day.

We encourage children to be grown up....that is the worst form of abuse I can think of.

Young adults can never say 'when I was a kid' becasue they never were kids.
