According to the NeoCons.. they hate us because of our freedom. This is widely accepted because most people don't take the time to read and research information available to them. Yes..OBL declared war because our role in the first Iraq war, the sanctions we placed on Muslim countries and setup military bases on holy lands. This is also pointed out in the 9/11 commission report as well.
When Ron Paul spoke the truth in the SC Republican debate, Rudy Giuliani and the other candidates ridiculed him saying his statement was absurd and he should apologize. Naturally, the NeoCon audience applauded Rudy, due to their combined IQ of 84.

No
It all started when the US Navy shelled his families Bank during the 1967 6 day war.
Then combine it with him being a bit of a Wahhabi extremist. Ten years of Afghan Russian War. And a inside take over of his organization by the Muslim Brotherhood.
At one point in his Bin Laden was a cult leader teaching boys how to ride horses.
He ran a successful aid organization to help Afghans wounded in the war with Russia.
Bottom line he is a typical religious extremist that has more money than brains. I think it is no different than the Japanese cult that gassed the Tokyo Subway.
Without checks and balances Religion always goes too far. Like the Inquisition.

He`s like every beings that want power, he want more money. And from what I`ve seen, this guy still got support from the high ranking military in the US... Common, this guy would have been killed a while ago, if it was not from high ranking officers orders! They need to keep him alive to scare Americans and reduce your level of freedom, in order to enslaved everybody!!
At first I was thinking, that terrorism was a virus to democracies, but now I noticed, that terrorism is engineered and planned by our own side just to increase their controls over underdeveloped countries, and the rest of the world!
Funny to see all those things, without being capable to do anything to stop this!

long term vs. short term goals:
Let me explain; No I'm not a nut saying Bin Laden is going to invade the world and convert it to Islamic law.
However, the end goal of Al-Quada and other Islamic groups is a world wided Islamic empire. They do not think it will happen in 50 years or even a hundred years, but that is their end goal, and where the comment you posted comes from.
To achieve these goals there are things they must do first. The first thing is restoring an Islamic caliph, with that offensive jihad can be called and a Muslim army built. The destruction of Israel is also important in that while what I just mentioned is the "big jihad", Israel is part of the little jihad, because it was once under the control of the Islamic empire. According to Muslim Fundis, any land that was once under Islamic rule, always must be under Islamic rule. That is why bin laden also talks about taking back Spain and such. Ilamic fundamentlist terrorism is not confined to the US. Al-Qauda and its like also opreate and carry out missions in places like Indonesia, the Philippines, Europe, and Africa. They support Islamist causes, regardless. ANY COUNTRY that does not follow the Sharia, acccording to al-quada, is wrong and must be changed. In that way, it is true that they do "hate freedom", in this I mean they hate "man made laws" and according to their beliefs all the world is to be under allah's law....if it takes 1000years no matter. When he speaks about "musims being opressed in the philippines , he is saying that they (muslim fundamentlists in the south philippines) are being denied their god mandated right to ...well....be islamic extremists. So it would be more correct to say "Bin Laden hates democracy and liberty"...which he does. The reason he picks the US out, is that we are a block in his way of restoring an islamic empire. That is his "political" problem with us.
It is true, that is we were complete isolationists, and just allowed them to do their little jihads and such, they would leave us alone (for now), but there are too many problems with that. One is that we live in a globalized world, for better or worst.
Here is an example: Bin Laden supports the Islamic government of Sudan. If someone intervened in Sudan to stop the genocide there...they would be infedels fighting muslims...and as such he would declare jihad on them (this is from his own words) the same way he was so upset about the UN mission in Somalia.
Here is a another very good example related to what you are talking about:
Al-Quada got started because Bin Laden wanted the US army out of "sacred" Arabia. This was during desert shield, where we were asked by the Government of Saudi Arabia to protect them from Iraq. Bin Laden wanted a muslim army to fight Iraq. Bin Laden hated Saddam, but he hated Infadels more. The idea of non-muslim soldiers on Islamic land is what got him so upset. If the US was an army of muslims, he would have been very happy. The fact that the Saudis allowed non muslim soldiers on their land lead Bin Laden to lable them (The Saudi royals) as apostates of Islam (as they took as friends and protectors, non muslims...check the quran to get a better idea) as apostes they could not rule the sacred land of the 2 mosques and he declarerd war on them.
I would recommend reading the book:
"Bin Laden: In his own words"
It is a collection of his writing and will give you better in site into the thinking behind organizations such as Al-Quada

It's amazing these self styled "terrorist experts" we see on Faux apparently haven't even listened to what Bin Laden has said.
He's a murderous kook and deserves to be punished but even he isn't insane enough to try and advocate what the far right accuses him of. It doesn't speak well of the far right and their extremism either.

Right, it's about our support for Israel, and for our business influence in the Middle East.
The idea that "They hate us because of our freedom," which Bush and others kept saying,
doesn't make sense at all. Everyone loves their own idea of freedom. Muslims' idea of freedom is a little different, especially regarding women, but lots in common with ours. It makes me wonder what's Bush's idea of "freedom".
