If it is all about feeling better and being happy shouldn't that be true?

"If it makes you happy and that is your perception of it does that nescessarily mean that it makes me happy too
If it is all about feeling better and being happy shouldn't that be true?"

I just don't see how this could be an untrue statement when everyone thinks that the mental health and pill taking is all about feeling better and being happy you see that is what they tell you it does for them, so if that is true if a pill could do that then we would all have to be just exactly alike and like the same things in order for it to do this for all of us, follow the reasoning, that would have to be a true statement, one pill one thought means we all are alike right? Aren't we all suppose to be alike and if not then why do we try to artificially manifest it?

"One event, polar opposite perceptions. "

You are very funny I liked your analogy, but this is not polar it is in fact just opposite viewpoints and that is okay I agree, you would be happy someone would be sad. Thanks for answering.

no, not at all, as we are all individuals, with our own taste and perceptions, so while what makes me happy might bring happiness to you, it doesnt necessarily,
for instance, watching Brit Com on Saturday nights, makes me happy, its my time to just relax, have a glass of wine, and laugh at often subtle humor, but that might do nothing for you, some find it just boring, and thats fine, for part of the happiness i get from it is that its also my alone time, to unwind and not communicate with others
ps: as to mental health and using meds to bring hapiness, i wouldnt think that many think one treatment would be right for all, or even for the same person in different situations, talk therapy, life adjustments, along with or without meds, all can help for specific problems
we are all not alike, and as we mature we understand that, and should no longer have a need to be exactly like others or for them to be like us, though its common to have some things in common, and to enjoy that, we also learn to enjoy our differences, and see there is no one solution, whether to a mental health issure or other issues, that works for everyone

This is the clash of Eastern and Western philosophies.

Happiness, like many things, is a subjective experience. I might enjoy dogs and they make me happy. You might dislike dogs and prefer cats and they make you happy.

Assuming that happiness is a constant and universal is the first source of suffering.

Addicts usually find themselves with the same philosophy that you are advocating. Anything to dull the pain of existence or reality. Of course, when you learn the source of your own suffering, the need for happiness wanes because it will then exist.

Hon, NO!
We are all made unique and have individual likes and dislikes. Just because I like broccoli doesn`t mean everyone likes broccoli. We are all different. AND that is what makes the world go round.

Let`s celebrate or differences and enjoy learning new things from new folks.

God bless from Texas <><

If my ex-husband dropped dead, that would make me happy. The general population would be indifferent. I'm sure if looked hard and long enough, someone would be sad........

One event, polar opposite perceptions.

only if my happiness makes you happy...

if i was a serial murderer or a sadistic psychopath, i don't think that what makes me happy would necessarily make you happy...
