Today is St. Swithun's Day. Traditionally, if it rains it will continue to rain for 40 days and nights. So far, here, we have had sunshine and heavy showers. Is it likely to be like that now till the end of August?

This could be the turning point of history if it does'nt rain for 40 days and 40 nights and the weather forecasters says it will be different. We had some heavy rain this morning but it changed to bright warm sunshine after 10am.

It has some foundation in actuality. the united kingdom has a temperate climate that's inspired by the climate varieties that boost over the Atlantic and flow this manner borne on the commerce Winds (Westerlies). In severe summer season (around the middle of July) it particularly is possible to foretell the climate for a 4-5 week era based on the development winning. The cyclical climate varieties do no longer replace unexpectedly. hence the development on July fifteenth is a quite stable indicator of what the subsequent 30-40 days would be like.

There's a lot of folk beliefs around weather and holy days. Groundhog day is another (it's a pagan holiday rather than a saint's day).

There is no basis for this belief.

The weather forcast for your region has to do with where you are. Are you in the US/Canada? England/Scotland/Wales/Ireland/N.Ireland? Australia/New Zealand? Or a non-native speaker of English from anywhere from Ecuador to East Timor?

For information on the upcoming weather, consult a Web site like weather.com or Yahoo weater.
