Im looking to get a Quantitive blood test. I think I spelled it correctly...the one that doesn't just give a "yes or no", but actually gives you the number amount. Anyways...I'm wondering if you would go to your obgyn or to your family doctor for this?...Im only 11dpo, do you think it would be accurate?......From everything that I have read, I think it would be fine. Thanks!

Also, when you call would you just say you want to make an appointment for one?...

I have a obgyn because Im currently undergoing fertility treatments. That is not true, they will give you a blood test if you request it. And blood tests ((so I have heard)) can pick up as early as 6 days after you concieve.

I called my family doctor and they got me in the same day. I just told them I wanted it and they were more than happy. =) Also, insurance covered it. So...you do not have to be referred to an obgyn for it, and you don't have to have a pos. pregnancy test either. Thanks

Contact your OB. Let them know you'd like a pregnancy test and a Quantitative hCG test. They're going to have you do a urine test to first get a positive. If so, I would believe they would do a blood test. I don't believe they would do a blood test prior to a simple urine test. Blood tests are done after a positive urine test and expected due date set so they can read the numbers and see if they have doubled each day as they are suppose to.

Good luck.

Absolutely!!!! You know your body and some idiot doctor who won't listen is that last thing you need when pregnant. What if you are pregnant and you developed symptoms of something going wrong? You don't need a doctor who obviously isn't interested in what you need! I went through 3 OB's before I found the greatest OB in a nearby city. The first doctor actually suggested that I should have an abortion when he confirmed the pregnancy since obviously we were in no condition to be parents. The reason why he had this opinion??? My husband was with me and is in a wheelchair due to military service!!

go to your family doctor. you have to be referred to an obgyn. just ask for a blood test and tell them what kind you want. be prepared to get told no. most doctors wont do them because they are very expensive. they are generally only ordered when a woman is or might be miscarrying

also they may not do a blood test til you have a positive home test. keep that in mind. its still too soon for any test to read as hard as it is try and wait until you miss your period

I have had those done SEVERAL times, because I've had complications with pregnancies in the past. All I did, was call my OBGYN and ask if I could please have one done. They always did for me. And my insurance covered it every time. I recently just found out I was pregnant, and my OB wanted me to have one done just to check my levels, and I was only 2 weeks pregnant and they detected it no problem.

Nice joke, and well you just have to let the doctor know!!

I will get that as soon as I get the money.

Here where I live it cost unless you are having a problem down there!!

Probably I will make up a sickness and ask them to do a pg test first and if is postive to do a quantitative: I lost my first early and wouldn't want to get my hopes up!!!
