Do you think it is because we put so much junk into our bodies that our flesh actually tastes bad to other animals?
Or is there something else to it?
Thanks

I can't imagine that when swimming in an ocean we are "higher" on the food chain than a shark. I am pretty sure that if they wanted to eat us, they would do so quite frequently.

Um... ok, apparently I need to work on my wording. Sorry about that. Humans walk into the homes and lands of predators because we think we are all cool and can do what we want.
People get attacked by carnivorous or omnivorous animals who often have to spend many hours or days hunting to get a meal for the predator and sometimes his/her family.
They catch a person.
They get a bite or taste of that person.
Most often (except for these interesting tigers people are talking about) they say, "yucky!"
Even though the animal is hungry and may have a hungry family, they turn down the easy prey of an awkward human and try hunting yet again. The victims share their stories on documentaries.
The reason is not because humans are so powerful and awesome that they can beat up natural predators.
So I was curious as to if anyone knew why they taste us and decide not to eat us.
:)

This really isn't that simple of a question to answer. It really depends on the predator in question. The generic "humans are not Predator X's natural prey" basically means herds of humans do not typically roam where this predator hunts. A human is no more a timber wolf's natural prey than a kangaroo is. Humans usually live in ways that keep them safe from predators, so predators don't usually get the opportunities to hunt us. There are of course exceptions:
Step into the ocean and you are towards the bottom of the food chain, but sharks and other ocean predators don't seek out human prey. This is probably because humans are too bony and lack the fat and flesh they want.
Reptiles large enough to kill people, like crocodiles and komodo dragons will eat anything that makes a good target, including humans.
Any large predator, like bears or lions or tigers can and will eat a human. Really, humans are pathetically easy prey. Barring the carrying of a gun, we can't defend ourselves very well. A large predator that learns humans are easy food is rapidly hunted down and killed here in the US. In other countries, being eaten by tigers is an occupational hazard.
Conversely, I do know certain carrion beetles (don't remember the species) dislike eating human flesh due to the high grease content.
Really, in the predator prey world, humans don’t have some special reprieve.

There are a lot of documentaries about wild animals being offered human meat in some sort of taste-test format?!?!
I think what you've probably heard is something similar to "Grizzly bears do not usually kill humans for food, but rather, because...."
Imagine you are a shark, and you are just swimming around your ocean, and you are really craving a big, fat seal. You are hungry, you can imagine the sensation of your jaws biting into that rich, sealy goodness.
"Oh! Look at that!" you think to yourself as you notice a surfboard, which can look a lot like a seal from underneath, because all they really see is the silloutte blocking the sunlight trickling down through the water... you swim up excitedly, your mouth would be watering if only it could, you open your mouth, anticipating the fatty taste of your favorite meal...
You bite down, get a disappointing 1-3 inches of flesh and then bone.... "WTF!" you cry out, in shark-like distress... You swim away, or maybe bite the surfer again because you're angry that he got your hopes up. Think about how much meat is on a seal vs. a human...
:) Hope that made sense. I'm feeling silly today!

It is correct that pigs devour something they are able to discover. They devour like individuals and they've stomachs like cats that may digest so much harsher matters. Today meat is grown underneath supervision again hundreds of thousands of years in the past in rural and concrete groups it was once very distinct. Pigs could devour among different matters lifeless carcasses. For this cause they could very by and large convey sicknesses. In conjunction, pig meat could also be very fats meat, because of this it rots so much quicker and scorching and humid locations just like the center east. Bacteria grows so much quicker additionally, a couple of hours after the animal was once slaughtered small minorities of micro organism could already develop to colossal cultures. I consider a few cultures spotted that individuals generally tend to get unwell and die extra while pigs had been integrated within the nutrition. And so it grew to become a wellness risk, and has long gone into the devout 'do's and dont's'. Today, an overly priceless preliminary support in archaeology in deciding on whether or not the populace of a cost was once canaanite or Israelite is inspecting whether or not pig bones are discovered. As for the natural animals with cut up hooves and cud chewing, I consider that individuals effortlessly tested the healthful animals, and what all of them had in ordinary, versus animals that made individuals unwell and die. This was once viable on the grounds that in Judeo christianity god created the arena so as, in which the whole lot has an evidence. Since it was once aspect of devout legislation, it remained the train for the beyond few thousand years, and at present continues to be practiced, even though Jews at present devour matters which are so much worse than pig meat... similar to Mcdonalds bah.

In Ghana Lions are hunting People because the people have hunted all their game .
but i am sure the game had more meat on it
Crocodiles have no problem eating people
Neither do Tigers
But documentaries usually are in Game parks where game is plenty
And Antilope or Zeebra must taste better than people tainted by booze and smoke wrapped in synthetic fibre

The tigers of India that are frequently eating humans don't seem to mind. The fact is we are just NOT in the majority of wild predators food chain. The big turn off is the way human intestines and organs smell. Predators will not eat the stomach and intestines of animals, and it seems those of the human are particularly repulsive. Perhaps it's the junk we eat. But, remember those poor folks over in India don't eat junk food, they are mostly vegetarians.
There are more reports of human big wild animal predators coming in contact. Some with deadly consequences. It is not cause these predators have added human to their menu. It is that humans are more in numbers and encroaching upon their habitat.

Finally! A sane voice in Jim, explaining that the reason why tigers and lions would rather not eat humans is because of the junk food that we eat on a daily basis. It's about time someone pointed out the value of the modern diet, it has protected us from being eaten by wild beasts. Way to go, Jim, give that man his 10 points.

No so -- it is just that the taste is unfamiliar to them. Once they aquire the taste for human flesh they will prey on humans a lot - like the tiger of India and Asia.

Probably because predators tend to like herbivores... and we eat everything under the sun. Also, most predators won't have the instinctive desire of human flesh because they don't have a history of eating it.

No, it's not because we eat too much junk. It's because we're not natural prey, or something like that.

Thats nonsense.
Generally all life avoids eating things that are high up in the food chain because they are less nutritious, but animals avoid eating humans for reasons like GUNS and CAGES and MOBS WITH FLAMING TORCHES. Anyway I can't understand your logic; how many documentaries show humans being hunted by animals???
