There is no rationalisation ...but churchill did just that. The right salute him for it.. He and bomber harris targeted major german cities to cause as many civilian casualties as possible.

Partial response: re Churchill and civilian bombing-
Britain did not start targeting non-military sites till 1942...
Germany hit London in 1940 or so. If wars are fought by any form of rules, Germany broke the rule first.
Civilians are ALWAYS on the short end of the stick. This is even more true when fighting a guerrilla style war.
Today's ally might be tomorrow's enemy.

Then you ask the question: Do the ends justify the mean?
If Al-quada did not use terrorism, they would still be a%#holes, because it is their ends that make them bad, not just their means.
If a freedom figher to you is someone fighting for the freedom to stone people to death or something.....I would say me and you have a very differant view of freedom.

Ya, sure they suck too. Heck most of the terrorists are from there. The messed up part is this regime is the most liberal we are going to get over there, haha, so we deal with it.
It is a trade off, for as much as they suck....the other guys are even worst! and if say...a secular democratic movement was fighting Saudi Arabia...I would call them freedom fighters

A terrorist involves the targeting of non-combatant victims. This is not warfare; this is murder.
There is no explanation or rationalization for killing innocent men, women and children in the name of "freedom fighting."

Theres always some idiot who will justify murder of innocent civillians in the name of political means.
Plenty of Americans donated money to the IRA for this very reason.

Some "freedom fighters" they are. They're blowing up their own people. Reminds me of the Marx Brothers in "Duck Soup". "But sir,you're shooting at your own men!"
