I just want to be clear: it's not from your breastfeeding. It's your hormones making their way out of your baby's system. It will go away soon, like everyone else said.

i dont have the answer but i am wondering the same thing. My 7 week old daughter has it on her neck and back of her shoulder blades, and upper chest. I know "baby pimples" are very common adn every kid gets them, some worse than others, but my daughters is so bad it almost looks like a rash. i am breastfeeding too so ive just thought its from the milk dripping down or running down when she eats. Ive started to put a cloth between her skin and my breast. It seems to help, at least a little. See if that helps. If you think it is a rash and not pimple like, than definately call the pediatrician. If you can maybe relate it to think you eat on the days it might look worse than it may be something you ate. EX: when i eat corn, the next day my daughter is nothign but one big gas bubble, so ive cut corn out of my diet. Good luck....thanks for askign this question too.

Newborn acne comes from the disapation of your hormones in the babies system. It isn't real attractive but nearly every baby gets it for a couple of weeks . It is called acne neonatorum and results in a localized rash over the nose cheeks and forehead. It will be there until the babies own hormones take over. It would have come even if you were not breast feeding. just use water or a very mild soap and wait it out.

It could be. Does it look like the rash area dry. If it is put some lotion on there. HOw long was rashed was there. you can call the doctor office and talk with them. They might want to see him and check that rashes area out. They could tell you if they think he might be allergic to something you ate. Or something else. I could call them in the morning..

I agree with the newborn acne advice (don't worry it's nothing you ate) but just wanted to add make sure you don't use harsh soap or moisturizer cream on your breasts/stomach/arms..and make sure you wash your own clothes in mild detergent just like his/hers. the constant contact that your babies skin has with yours and your clothes/bankets/sheets could be a culprit. Use "baby soap" yourself for now.. newborn skin is so sensitive.

Babies get rashes very easily, thats normal, they have sensitive skin. It could be heat, soap, lactose, anything. More than likely its nothing to worry about, but if you are stressing, then yes, see your doctor, because its important to be as stress free as possible and ease your mind.
