I am interested in how atheists perceive absurdists. I kinda lean towards the absurdist point of view...only because i've become extremely disillusioned with life...and feel that people are out there doing stupid stuff on their own free will just because they can get away with it (politicians, criminals, so-called religious figures).

Religious people would think absurdists see futility when the obvious answer is reliance on God/Allah/Krishna/something to save one. Many, particularly Calvinists, might agree that it is impossible to find meaning with one's own human powers, but they would believe the answer is placed right in front of us as a free gift of grace from God.

I don't think absurdism is inconsistent with atheism: In fact, I suspect it would be difficult to be a true absurdist if one believed a supernatural, benevolent entity were out there to rescue weak humanity from its own inability. The distinction, if there is one, between absurdism and atheism is that the atheist may believe meaning, accomplishment and answers can be found in a godless world, while the absurdist must believe that is impossible.

In my reading about absurdism, it is specified that the absurdist does not necessarily believe that there are no answers, but merely that it is impossible to discover them with human powers. I wonder what we should call the belief that not only can we not find the answers but there are no answers - no meaning or connection between things. That may shade into nihilism, but if one insists that life should be lived as if there were meaning (although there is not) that seems to be existentialism!

Your disapproval will be a source of suffering for years to come. When you make the decision to free others from your expectations they will no longer irritate, annoy and anger you.

When we decide to stop disapproving, the desire and the need to punish others becomes clearer. Of course, any one who gets "away with it" is usually a sign that you want them punished.

The person with ethics is the one who suffers.

Live by your ethics. Don't expect others to live by your code. You'll feel a lot better.

We have to balance things out and religious books are meant to help us make sense of life; not to confuse it further.

I think there are too many different religions, and that they derived from someone who was ticked off by his original religion and decided to make his opinion a "religion."
