Awww. Poor lil' punkin'. So far, you're doing it all right!! Keep up the humidifer - that's really good! The aspirator is also a good move - use saline drops to soften the mucus if it's seems hard and dried. He might want to sleep in his baby seat because being a little elevated might make him more comfortable.

Other than that, don't give him any medication until you see the doctor. Over the counter medicine can mask other, more serious, symptoms in young children - especially those under 6 months old.

All you can really do is what you are: humidifier and aspirator. You could also try saline drops to help loosen up the mucus. (Get the store brand. The 'special' baby brands are the exact same thing, just more expensive.) You can't give him any decongestant medicine at this age unless the doctor tells you to and how much to give. Also make sure he's getting lots of fluids (a little extra milk or even a little water is okay). If he gets a mild fever, give him some Infant Tylenol, and let him sleep all he wants. He's miserable, but he'll be okay in a few days.

TRy saline drops for his nose...keep doing the humidifier...not sure if you should be goiing to the doctor just for a cold...if he has a high temp, then yes. But for sneezing and snot, I don't think so. It is hard when it is your first. First thing Mon., morning call your doc and speak to a nurse or leave a detailed voicemessage...it will probably save you a trip and the hassle.

Some saline drops may help clear his nose and you can make those. You use 1/2 cup of warm water and 1/4 teaspoon salt. When you do it make sure the water is not too hot. Also, try a infant cold medicine. Good Luck!

This worked for us:
-Give tylenol- infant
-Lay the baby over your lap head down to help him drain. Pat his back. Then, flip him over to suck out the drainage.
-you can give him infant decongestants- but I try not to- they relieve the symptoms, but not the source. I think Tylenol works best.
-Give the baby a bath- it helps to soothe them.
-Rock your baby.

Other than that- you are doing everything well- just hang in there until Tuesday. By Tuesday, he may not even need to go- if it is a cold, there is nothing they can do- virus' don't respond to antibiotics. So, unless he has an ear infection along with the cold- not much can be done.

Babies and colds are just awful.

Good luck- and make sure you wash your hands often so you do not pick it up.

I hope he feels better really soon!

Little colds or pediacare are some good otc medicines to try. They will give him temporay relief. Some where between 3 and 4 months is when all babies get their first colds. There's not much you can do at this point except let it run its corse. Just keep running the humidifier and clearing his nose for him..
Good Luck!

I would give him some benedryl and buy some saline drops for his nose. Once you put the saline drops in his nose you may need to suck the stuff out, but that should do it....it may take a few days but I would follow the directions on the bottles and you should be good to go. The first year is always the hardest, so hang in there.
