I'm in a good situation. My marriage is good, my son is a good student and is active in school functions, my wife and I have decent-paying, secure jobs, and we are living in a home that we own. We got here by the way that millions of others do - get a good education, get a job with good prospects, work hard at it, stay involved with your kid's lives and love them and nurture them, start saving early for retirement and save some every paycheck. It's not terribly hard most of the time, but it does take commitment to keep on keeping on.
I'm not saying that the Ward and June Cleaver approach is the only way to do it, but that it will work for most people. If you're someone with entrepreneurial skills, you can start a business. If you're an artist with marketable skills, you can follow that muse. But the boring, traditional, stick-in-the-mud approach IS boring and traditional because it works, and millions have used it successfully. You might think that you'll turn out like Uncle Jim and Aunt Betty, but when you're 65 years old, you'll think that that's not so bad after all.

I am in an excellent place. I'm a female holding a high profile position, I own my home, car etc. I don't have any dependency, I have a good education, my daughter is all grown up and soon graduating from college. I did it by making decisions with my head and not with my heart or my ego. I do not associate with trouble maker and my daughter and I come first.
