The factor I looked at when buying prepaid is: How much does each minute of talk time cost? It's hard to find this information so you have to dig it up. I finally decided on T-Mobile To Go. If you buy $100 worth of minutes at a time, you get over a thousand minutes, which is slightly less than 10 cents per minute.

Please let us know if you find any with minutes at a smaller cost.

You need to check the hidden stuff in any phone offering becoz it hits you when you get the first bill, and by then it is too late to get out of the contract without paying a penalty.

Check the free (included) airtime both incoming and outgoing. Can balance airtime be carried over at the end of the month.
Is there any connection fee ?
Is there a clause which asks you to ensure you use up the prepaid value within X days of first use.
Is there any additional charged as 'setup fees' for stuff like voice mail, caller Id etc.
In other words ask for a few things to compare services - [1] free airtime or included airtime [2] call rates - weekdays and weekends [3] extra charges or setup fees [4] ask about roaming etc if you are a traveler.
