I'm 20 years old and in a few weeks I will be booking my vacation to Disney World (Where I will be going in May 2008).

Is there anything that I should know about booking the trips? Anything that people have had problems with, something that I need to make sure I clearify ... anything... any tips..

Thanks!

(1) The further in advance you book the trip, the better price you will usually get.
(2) Concern yourself on whether a plane ticket is refundable or not. In case you can't go, you want to be able to get a refund.
(3) Bring garbage bags and zip loc bags with you. You will need someplace to put your laundry (hence garbage bags). Zip loc bags always end up being useful for some reason (you can put a wet bathing suit in it, shoes, etc.)
(4) Keep in mind that you may end up buying things on your vacation and there needs to be some room in your luggage to bring it back home.
(5) For Disney World, think about when you are entering the park and what lines you can expect when. For instance, let us say you enter when the park opens in the morning. Most people start at the beginning of the park and there are terrible lines for the attractions nearest the entrance. You want to start in the middle of the park and minimize your chances of waiting a long time on line.
(6) You will do a lot of walking. Wear comfortable sneakers and bring band aids for your feet.
(7) You will always spend more than you expect. But it was worth it, so don't stress yourself out over it.
(8) You will want to check out a few travel sites to see which has the lowest prices for airfare and hotel. This site lists great cheap trave sites: http://www.travelbargainsites.com

Get a copy of the Fodor's book on Disney. There will be so many tips that will make the trip more fun, and it will save you enough money to buy 50 copies of the book, if you read it and follow the suggestions.

The only other thing I can suggest is that if you fly down, stay in Disney resort and don't get a rental car while you're there. You can use Disney transportation to get back and forth to the parks for free, and you won't be paying for a rental car that will sit in a parking lot and not even move for several days. There are shuttle buses that will take you to and from the airport.

My family loves Disney. Last time we went we stayed at one of their resorts. That really is the best way to go. You can travel from your resort inside the park to any part of the park and if you need a break your not too far away from your room. I would say make sure the that there isn 't a restricition on your age when booking the room, unless your are going with parents/family. Soom places do not like to rent to people under 25. Hope you have a blast where ever it is you decide to go!

don't stay at pop century. i am not even going to tell you why because it is so bad, but when you get to the orlando airport DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT take disney's magical express, or a shuttle service!!!! they drop you off hours late even if you were the 1st ones on. i have gone 7 times and we always have someone pick us up in a town car. this makes it so easy to get to the hotel. you can also make a grocery stop then, and that is really convienent. if you do make a grocery stop though, buy breakfast foods because the breakfasts at the resorts are so over priced and so crowded--especially pop century...they are the worst! you wil save so much time, money, and effort doing this. you seem to have alot of questions, you can email me if you want to get more info. i love disney and know alot about it, so you are free to do that if you wish. have fun!

1. Make sure it's not more than 7 days. (it gets boring after that)
2. Pack all your hygene stuff so you don't have to waste time shopping for that stuff in your vacation.
3. Research, make sure where you are going to eat and maybe clubs too.
4. Make sure write down your trip plan, ( all the places you want to visit, all the things you want to get done while out there)
5. Make sure have an estimate of how much money you are going to spend (food, restaurants, tickets, presents, misc. shopping ) and multiply that amount by 1.5 so you have some emergency money.
6. Make sure have your cell phone charger, maybe an extra battery
7. Make sure you have your ID
8. Have all your bags tagged.
9. (Grab and Umbrella) always helps. Rain or sun.
10. If you have...bring your lap top, wifi places help a lot.
11. get a list of emergency numbers for Local city.
