I am meeting two friends at Heathrow. They are going to be arriving in Terminal 2. What would be a good place for me to suggest as a rendezvous point so I can help them with their luggage? We will be taking the Underground from the airport.

You didn't indicate if you are flying in as well. In any event, there is certainly the customs exit point in T2, but that tends to be very crowded. It is a choice, none-the-less, and you can easily help them with their baggage from there.

There is a very easily accessible underground walkway between the main original terminals, including T2, that leads past the tube stop. The area around the tube stop is fairly wide open and you would be easily visible there. If your friends are mobile and independent, I would suggest they grab a free luggage cart, take the lifts (elevators) down to the underground walkway, and meet you in the passageway in front of the LHR tube stop.

PS: The Heathrow Express is faster into the city (non-stop to Paddington) unless you are intentionally wanting to make a dozen stops to get into the center of London.
