Some are real engine generators and others pass engine power to road wheels. Toyota wins hands down... But they have made more different kinds and produced more units learning what people need. Costing 5 to 7 thousand more than regular models Hybrid battery weigh 200 lbs costs $? and will not last the life of the car. Toxic Nickel Metal Hydrate battery and dispose of that in your land fill? As you can tell I am not a fan of two seperate propulsion systems. Gasoline is still the biggest bang for the buck! "funny again" Many cars averaging over 36 miles a gallon these day. Texan's say "stick to what brung ya" Until there are fuel cell driven electric only cars hybrid is just steping stone technology. But manufactures have learned a lot. And all the so called "tree huggers" think there doing right buying a Prius that in actuall driving does not get as good of mileage as the Corrolla and costs 13 thousand more?

The best hybrid to buy is the Toyota Prius That gets 55-60 MPG. The Prius is only $19,000 to $27,000. The worst hybrid to buy is A Mercury hybrid because they don't really get good fuel efficiency. The get no more than 30 MPG HWY. And the Mercury is priced In the Mid $30,000's. Go to your nearest Toyota dealer and check out the Prius.
