NO. Only when leaving on vacation or extended period of time along with the dish washer, if you have one.

No you don't need to unless you detect an obvious leak! Some people turn off every time out of habit. Certainly if you go away then yes most definatly turnoff. When you go away isolate every thing you can but of course, water is simply turned of at the incoming point unless you need a feed to something in particular that relys on a supply on demand feed. The round up of this subject is to isolate every thing you can. if possible and you need a particular feed to something then leave that on but isolate everything else, really it's common sense just think about it.

I definitely do. Years ago a hose burst and we came home to 2 inches of water from the laundry room through the kitchen and morning room working its way into the rest of the house. Thankfully, the hardwood floors were not damaged. When my wash is done, the water is turned off.

There is a cylenoid in all washing machines that have an electomagnet in them. The washing machine has water running to it constantly, the valve only opens to let water in during certain times during you wash cycle. If that cylenoid goes bad, water will run and run until it overflows into your home....this happened to me. I cut the water off if I am going to be gone for a while, but I probably should cut it off everytime that I leave the house...

Washing machines do have valves that can wear out. If you forget to turn it back on your washing won't get done but it won't harm your machine as has been suggested. As to Mike E, yes, ball cocks in toilets have been known to spring a leak and cause a flood. Congratulations on a good idea even though it was intended as a "Smart Alec" answer.

No need to but if you are concerned about a possible leak then turn it off when not in use just remember to turn it back on when you do a load

the manufacturer always suggests you do but that's only to cover themselves in the unlikely event something does go wrong so and they can blame it on you not turning it off cause they know that very few people will bother!! i have never turned mine off, not even when i go on holidays and nothing has happened and i only have those rubber hoses!!
dont worry about it!
