I have no children of my own, but don't think my parents bathed me at that age. I am sure they told me to go and bathe but have no recollection of them bathing me so old.

It is a little old, however, every family is different. I know my sister had to help her daughter to wash her hair up until she was about 12. She wouldn't do a good enough job and would get build-up on her scalp that would bother my niece. I was a nanny to two children and the parents would have me assist their 8 year old son while he bathed. To be honest, I would have him bathe himself (except help with the hair) and then just play on the side of the tub with his toys with him...he loved it. It all depends upon the comfort level of the child and parents.

I Stopped Being Bathed At About 7 Years Old.
I Don't Think Thats Right Because The Child Is Growing Up
But If Parents Feel The Need To Do That I Am Not Knocking Them

I have four children i stopped bathing my children by the age of 5 apart from washing their and lifting them out. Even at the age of 5 they are starting realise the need for privacy especially boys.

This might be a little odd but hay, any time they can get together is awesome!

I stopped having my parents bathe me a 7 but I still wanted someone it the room next door because I was afraid that there was going to be a fire and I would not know!! LOL! Now I am 15 and I hate it when my mom just walks in on me!!!

Every parent has a different time when they want to stop bathing their child.Personally I think that is a little old to bathe a child.

I can see no wrong in this .9 year olds can forget to wash their necks especally boys and in this busy world any quality time we can spend with our children is a bonus .Time to talk one to one with out interuptions . When you have children you will do things your way how it feels right for you just as your friends have The child will tell them if they are not comfitable with them bathing it .If the childand the parents are happy with the situation dont worry. We dont have a lock on our bathroom door ,loos seperate, so my daughter and I walk in on each other and have chats when we are in the bath and she is 20 Dad stopped bathing the girls when they were about 6 .

i still wash my kids hair at that age to make sure its done properly but would not bathe them past 6 or 7. children become more aware of their bodies earlier these days so i believe some privacy is good for them should they want it

Our son is 10 with Aspergers Syndrome- I don't bathe him- but I have been known to go in and wash his hair and ears because he doesn't like the shampoo on his forehead or in his ears. I did it the night before last because he is only washing the top of his head- and not the sides and back.

To each their own...do they abuse their children? I bet not- so leave it be. It's their home.

my 10 year old sister still wants my mother to wash her hair when shes in the bath...but shes after stopping letting my father in the bathroom when she's bathing. I think if the child is comfortable with it it's ok...but when he/she no longer wants their parents present in the bathroom, the parents should just back off.
