I heard that before too, I'm not sure... but if you want to know fast, then i suggest you go to google and type in "Tommy Hilfiger racist" or "Is Tommy Hilfiger a racist?" or something along those lines.

I won't get the best answer, but perhaps your husband is predjudiced (as he is pre-judging Tommy Hilfiger without ever meeting him and/or without data to back up his claims against Tommy's character).
So, if he thinks Tommy is prejudiced, then he should DEFINITELY buy his clothes to celebrate the fact that the two of them share a common denominator.
If he doesn't really think Tommy is prejudiced, then he should have no problem buying his clothes.
Either way, the clothes are probably made by slave kid labor in an underpoverished country. So, in that case, if your husband buys T.H. clothes, he is a jerk and if he doesn't, then he is sexy hot.

I wouldn't buy any clothing or merchandise that displays the maker's name prominently anyway. I have no interest in being a walking advertisement for Tommy Hilfiger or anyone else.
Let's take this a little further.....
Do you and/or your husband watch Roman Polanski films? If so, you are supporting a child rapist
Do you and/or your husband listen to R. Kelly's music? If so, you are supporting another child rapist.

He appeard on Oprah back in May of 2007 to speak about it:
Oprah: Let's break this down. Tommy, in the 21 years that we've been on the air, have you ever been on the show before today?
Tommy: Unfortunately, not.
Oprah: And when you first heard it, Tommy, what did you think?
Tommy: I didn't believe it. … Friends of mine said they heard the rumor. I said, 'That's crazy. That can't be. I was never on The Oprah Show. I would never say that.' And all my friends and family who know me and people who work with me and people who have grown up with me said that's crazy.
Oprah: Well, did you ever say anything close to that? Where do you think this originated?
Tommy: I have no idea. We hired FBI agents, I did an investigation, I paid investigators lots of money to go out and investigate, and they traced it back to a college campus but couldn't put their finger on it.

I heard Tommy Hilfiger was a racist, but I'm not sure if that's true. I don't buy his products anyway.

an "urban legend" that never happened.....The rumor was that he was thrown off the Oprah show when he said "If I knew that Blacks and Asians were going to wear my clothes, I never would have designed them". Problem is, he never appeared on the show until May of this year. Both Tommy and Oprah have announced in the past that the rumor of that statement is false!

I remember a rumour to this effect going around about 10 years ago, i don't know how much truth there is to it though. I still don't think anyone knows the truth. Here's an interesting site about it though

the whole story involves blatant exploitation of the hiphop culture. Not so much blind racism. He just used obvious stereotypes to market his clothing.
