Nominative case = the performer of the action in a sentence. Example: The MAN ate the cake. "Man" is the nominative noun, because it is the subject of the sentence. "Man" is performing the action.

Objective case= the recipient of the action. Example: The man ate the CAKE. "Cake" is the direct object of the verb "ate" and is in the objective case. "Cake" got eaten.
