Exceptional body odor is one indicator of zinc deficiency. Might want to get a blood test done. Other signs of insufficient zinc are delayed sexual maturity, infertility, hyperactivity in children, loss of appetite, loss of sense of taste and smell, anorexia, loss of hair, slow wound healing, acne, white marks on fingernails, greasy skin, depression. The RDA is 15mg.

There are 2 types of bromhidrosis and treatment will vary depending on which kind you have. Here is a link to a pharmaceutical company that has a pretty good abbreviated explanation: http://www.blainelabs.com/article-bromhidrosis.php

Bowel & kidney function should be investigated. Thyme tea or capsules may help. Also Dandelion root. If you suspect it is hormonal, I would suggest Sarsaparilla. Topically, dilute oil of sage and apply to underarms, hands, feet. (Contraindicated in high blood pressure & for nursing mothers.) Some sufferers are helped by a vegetarian diet.

Hi James, you say about bromhidrosis or fetid perspiration, foul-smelling perspiration, body odor - yes?
Some of the common reasons for having body odor are improper hygiene, like not having a proper bath or using dry clean clothes. You might be suffering from skin problems which have to be treated before you start pouring chemicals on yourself by use of perfume, deodorants and body wash. It can be also associated with genetic conditions, to be consulted with the doctor.

Things to avoid;
- Being overweight
- Tight fitting clothes
- Spicy and oily food
- Excessive alcohol as it increases perspiration
- Excessive Coffee and tea intake
- Excessive consumption of chocolate, peanuts,

Things to do
- Have balanced diet which is less spicy and involve good amount of protein plus lots of vegetables,
- Drinking lots of fluid and juices would also help
- Take a bath everyday and wash yourself properly specially in problematic areas
- Adding tablespoon of honey at the final rinse would keep you fresh all day
- A cup of vinegar in your bath water would help too
- Adding alum in your bath water would keep the odor in check

Also you can use small amount of baking soda and squeeze some lemon on it. Use this mixture for underarms and also the groin area. It proves to be very useful during summer time.

Rub potatoes slices on your underarms. See to it that your underarm is clean and dry. Rub it for quiet a while and wait till its dry. Apply your regular deodorant on this to make a difference. Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Home_Remedies_For_Body_Odor/
